I was traveling trough West Virginia and needed some rest , this Gem of a hotel had a great price and the friendliest customer service I have ever experienced . I am a long time Hilton member and had never seen a better staff from the Front desk to Valet and breakfast area , everyone was equally nice . And also the the cleanliness and decor of the hotel was outstanding. Thank you
I grew up in WV and attended Marshall University, so I want to first say that getting a DoubleTree is a great improvement for the city in terms of accommodations. However, it's still just a chain hotel that leaves a lot to be desired. I stayed here during Marshall's commencement ceremony, so the price was well over $300 for one of the most average rooms I've ever stayed in. There's a lot of work to still be done to the hotel and it's evident in the rooms. The breakfast was even more mediocre than usual for a Hilton chain. I wouldn't jump at the chance to stay here again, especially considering pricing, but glad the community is getting new and renovated hotels to compete with the ones much further away from the university like the Hampton Inn at Kinetic Park.
I have nothing negative to say about this awesome Hotel. We were here for a regional championship for soccer. The staff was so accommodating, friendly, patient beyond with all the kids. 10/10 stay. From karaoke to the pool, the fitness room, the rooms, beds were very comfortable! The location is great!! I would definitely recommend this hotel!! Especially for teams!!
I was skeptical booking here after reading some of the reviews. I was surprised by both the staff and the property and would have no problem brining my family here to stay. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. You can tell that the hotel had recently under gone a refurbishment and property looks great. The room are clean and modern. The hotel restaurant had great breakfast buffet. You can’t beat the price for the amount of food. The location of the hotel is also great. You are within walking distance to several great restaurants. There are also great shops and a movie theater a block away. I had a good stay and no complaints.
I’m staying her as I’m typing. It’s very off season so the room was reasonable. However, the desk clerk refused to price match! I ended up paying a bit more at the desk, I could get great service to book on my phone. Every question I asked the desk clerk was annoying to her. Ie ! Breakfast is over there and it’s not free…… guess I need to find another place for the next few nights
Stayed in at this hotel for a business trip. Great location. The room was quiet (#417) and the bed was really comfortable! Visited the bar area for a couple drinks and dinner. The food was okay - I'd stay here again but venture out for other food options. Breakfast was good - it was an additional charge and buffet style. The room wasn't overly spacious but for 1 person for 1 night - it was perfect size.
Hotel was booked it seemed like. Not real clean. Found a water bottle in my room after i checked in. Could smell weed all night and could hear doors slamming. Toilets flushing. To say I didn't get a good night's sleep would be an understatement. Also at checkin I had 2 rooms. I didnt even get offered water and cookies. Would not stay here again.
While working in the area for several months, I had the pleasure of staying here. Even though the building is old (for a hotel), it's well kept and in the process of constant improvement. The room was well appointed and very comfortable & I had a beautiful view overlooking the Ohio River. The DoubleTree is located in an excellent spot downtown, with many dining, drinking, & shopping options within walking distance. I ate there quite a lot, and the breakfast buffet was delicious and staffed by very friendly servers. Bootleggers, the bar/restaurant, has a mid-sized menu that is varied and has something for everyone. There's a trivia night in the week and karaoke on Fri. nights. Those are a nice alternative to flipping channels. I can't say enough good things about the staff. After staying there for more than 70 nights, I came to know & like them rather well. I could list 15 names here (but won't) that each deserve recognition. Management is doing a great job ensuring you'll be treated well at the DoubleTree in Huntington, WV. -Billy
The only reason I gave a 2 was because the valet staff was helpful and nice the entire stay. Otherwise I would give a 1.To start off, I had personal (very personal) items stolen from me. Can’t believe anyone would have wanted to steal these items from another person, but there are some sick people in the world. I left these items behind by mistake. I am 100% confident about this and staff claimed they could not be found. I left them in the cabinet under the TV in the room. They never left the room and I didn’t pack them in my belongings when I left. Unacceptable and a huge violation of the basic privacy/trust that hotels should innately give their guests.Housekeeping didn’t take my out trash at all, did not give me toilet paper when empty, or wipe down any surfaces. I had to do all this myself the entire 10 day stay. All they did was make the bed twice. Breakfast, while free for me as I am a diamond member, was very underwhelming. Can’t imagine why anyone would pay $12 for it.The shower was incredibly narrow so if you’re more than 12 inches wide, probably should stay somewhere else unless you want to shower sideways.I am mostly just so perturbed by having things stolen and not being able to hold anyone accountable. $150 worth of items just gone after being purchased 3 days prior. Ridiculous.
The hotel staff was so accomodating and friendly. The staff that prepared breakfast was genuinely concerned that we had everything we needed and they made sure to tell every guest to have a good day as they exited. Our room was a double queen. Everything was neat and thoroughly cleaned. The room smelled clean. The hotel had valet and convenient parking. It was also conveniently located within walking distance to several nice eating establishments. I would definitely recommend this hotel regardless of what your hotel expectations are. The rate is affordable for people who look for $$ hotels and the hotel deleivers an experience for people who book $$$ hotels.
