I'm from out of town and looked at the reviews and thought this would be a great little used bookstore. Oh boy was I wrong. Used books I know aren't the best condition, but you'd think they'd only take books in a good condition. Well this store takes horrible condition books that I'd go to a yard sale and pay 5 cents for. The book selection also was horrible. Nothing was current and the "staff selection" or new books was about 6 new titles. Again I get it's a used bookstore, but every one I've ever went into took in new books that people would want to read. This one does not. We're also out of Covid, mask mandates aren't required (I get they're their own store so they can do what they want), but to require masks for everyone is ridiculous. We're trying to move forward not backwards. Wouldn't waste my time going here. Didn't even try the coffee walked in was asked to put on a mask then walked the store it was dirty and I felt like if I touched anything I'd have to wash my hands so I wouldn't drink or eat anything in here. I'll never come back here and if people ask me what to do from my travels here it sure won't be to come to this bookstore. The rest of the street was amazing and I recommend going to the antique stores, but you can skip this on your trip.
We came in for coffee and bagels. There were 4 of us and we were the only ones in the shop. There was a girl by herself, so we were very patient with her, especially with our larger order. She even apologized for the wait. The moment I wasn’t impressed and actually made me write this review was when her co-worker came in and I found him quite rude. He told her “you can always say no,” which I didn’t find rude at the time, but the comments he kept making and his demeanor was as if we were an inconvenience to him. When she told him there were 4 sandwiches and she didn’t know how to do them, he said, “that’s why we don’t do more than 3.” He had a tone and demeanor that was putting her down for simply not knowing things.Personally, if she was new and didn’t know how to make the sandwiches, I don’t understand why she was by herself. And I wouldn’t have been so angry if he just didn’t show up at all.We had wanted everything to go and when we didn’t get it to-go and asked for a bag, he rudely said, “bring it to me.”We got there around 10:30, didn’t leave until 11:30.He didn’t even tell us our food was ready and just threw it on the counter. It was not worth the wait and his behavior was unacceptable. He didn’t even apologize. We will not be back.
Great bookstore with a way cool vibe. Excellent support of local authors and artists.
Still requires mask even though I was the only one in the store....Not much for philosophy or languages. At least it was clean and well decorated.
Loved this place! Book selection is so interesting and the employees were absolutely wonderful! Go here if you have a chance!
Love this awesome little bookstore! Great service! Calm atmosphere and such a variety of books to choose from! We also shot a TV pilot here. So be on the lookout for that!! It's called The Bookstore Explorer
