Top notch service and selection. I got a special that was the Parmesean Crusted Halibut topped with a lobster creme sauce woth asparagus and a house salad. It was cooked beautifully and I paired with a nice Pinot Noir. Most menu items are a la carte and large. Some dishes have sides along with it (as my halibut did).** It was the best food I've had in a long time **Great Old Fashions I hear, but they are not my taste.Valet service outside if you prefer for 10, pay when you pay the bill. Can you believe I lost my ticket in the 15 feet it took to walk in, and I hadn't even had wine yet. But it didn't matter. They had my last name.Go on, have fun. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. You won't regret it.And follow me you pirates.

Very nice place ,was expecting to go somewhere else but they were having an issue so for my birthday we ended up going to The Chop House.. tried some new things that I've never had before was very impressed and the waiter James went out of his way to make my birthday special, our appetizer was the Moroccan shrimp which is very good a little bit of spiciness to it, the main course was crab stuff sole, and a rosemary herb chicken. And for dessert I tried their Maple pecan bread pudding with chocolate drizzle and it was awesome.

Biggest issues were service and access. Didn't get all the way to dinner. half of the mall to which the restaurant is attached is closed, so you have to walk 2 blocks from the parking garage in what feels like a sketchy area to get to the restaurant. Upon arrival we were surprised at the prices ($59.95-69.95 for a Filet, ala carte for sides). When it took 30 minutes from seating and we still had only water on our table, not even our drinks which we'd ordered 15 minutes ago, we decided to leave vs. staying and being angry about poor service for such high prices. High prices are fine in the right atmosphere. This wasn't it.

Charleston, WV, was the midway overnight stopping point for my wife and me on a recent road trip and both evenings we took the 5 minute walk from our hotel to The Chop House for dinner. It was a great kickoff to our trip the first Thursday evening and a great capper on the second Thursday one week later. Since we have a Chop House in our home city, we are familiar with the restaurant. It has everything you want in a steakhouse in terms of atmosphere, drinks and food. The steaks were perfect the first night and my black and bleu special was great the second visit as was my wife's duo of airline chicken breasts. The French Onion soup and wedge salad are great as was the Caesar Salad with anchovies I had the second visit. I almost always try the au grain potatoes at steakhouses and am frequently underwhelmed. But not here: the huge chunk you get must have two dozen potato layers and the potato and the cheddar all melt together and is just an outstanding side. Creamed spinach--my wife's favorite--is also good and so was the mac-n-cheese. On our second visit we did split a dessert and it was the only disappointment: the small-ish piece of NY Cheesecake could have come from the local supermarket or I could do better with a couple cans of sweetened condensed milk and a Keebler graham cracker crust. It was OK just not anywhere near as special and good as everything else here. So if you are in Charleston, WV, and want an enjoyable splurge, the Chop House is it!

Ate there Sat. night. The worst meal I have every had there and I have been eating there for years. Filet use to be 12 oz now 11 oz and 50% more money. The driest I have every had there...over cooked and black on the outside. Ordered the layered potatoes...dry and virtually tasteless. Wife had the Crab cakes and were rubbery. Jumbo shrimp were noticeably smaller than before and about 30% more. I have literally eaten there 75 times....I will not go back...not for those prices and the quality if not present. Our waitress had zero personality. For a Saturday night the place was maybe 20% full at 7PM. The owners need to see the writing on wall....lower quality food, smaller portions, and higher prices....I cannot recommend The Chop House anymore....skip it and go to any local Tex/Mex place.....very very sad. Walked out with the last EVER $300 diner!!!!--2/15/21 - just as I thought..no attempt to contact as stated and an email that doesn't work as I tried to contact Chop House. Sad Sad Sad...bad management**** tried sending an email to your general manager with the address you supplied...computer says it is invalid.....

Has great the lobster bisque and a filet cooked perfectly. The bartender was attentive and friendly!

3 year ago this was THE place to eat in Charleston. Prime steak with quality similar to what you might find at high end steak houses across the country were the norm. Not just steak, they had a great seafood staple with the Dover Sole as well. The past 3 visits (1 in the fall 2020, 2 over the summer 2021) my experience with the quality of the meat has been consistently poor-mediocre. I want to blame COVID for the almost sharp decline in quality, but why have so many other steakhouses been able to recover their quality while The Chop House has not.The servers are knowledgeable and responsive. However, they place entrée plates on the table simultaneously for all the guests...it's pretentious and comical at the same time. I think it's supposed to appear refined and polish...it doesn't. I've spent more money on dining out than I should have (lol) at some of the nicest restaurants in the US - I've never seen anything like that. The ambience is great, better than most places in the valley. The bar is still a shining star! Excellent selection of spirits, good wine selection, and really tasty cocktails.

The service was very slow- the restaurant was not crowded at all and it still took over 2 hours for dinner there. The wait staff were all very friendly. The ice tea was old and tasted bad but the sparkling water was very good. Our meal was cooked perfectly and everything was tasty. Honestly though, our service through Blue Apron is just as delicious. If you’ve never been to the Chop House you should go. I’m not sure we’ll go back but I have always wanted to try it.

Steak was good. The sides were less than memorable. Mac n cheese was bland. Asparagus was cooked whole. Only 1/3 of the stalk was edible. Service was below par for the price you pay for the food.

Over an hour between the salad and the entrees; fine dining prices with horrible service.
