Stopped by here on our way through. We got the fried chicken dinner with green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, and corn bread. Chicken was good, green beans and mashed potatoes tasted like they were from a hospital cafeteria: edible but not what I was expecting. The potatoes tasted like boxed potatoes and thre gravy looked and tasted also like a mix. The beans had little flavor and were mushy like canned green beans. We also got 3 pies: coconut cream, apple, and graham cracker. They were all good, but not amazing.
Miserable in every way. How do you make buttermilk pancakes too salty? Took 3 reminders to bring an order of “grits,” which she hurriedly threw into some warm tap water. One look was all it took to send those away. “I’m not good at making those,” she said… Coffee was like the weakest instant coffee ever made. No butter, so instead I was brought three huge packets of artificial spread. “Maple syrup” was brown sugar water. The property is in need of an update, apparently since the 1970’s. Nothing comfy at all inside. The only plus here is that it’s a few steps from the hotel. Take my advice & drive anywhere else, even if it’s far!
Stopped here for dinner while staying at the nearby hotel. The staff was great. Very friendly and welcoming. I ordered a grilled chicken salad and mashed potatoes. The salad lettuce was just shredded lettuce and there was very little chicken. The saving grace was the mashed potatoes. you could tell they were homemade. I think if I didn't order the "healthy" option the other portion of the meal would have been better.
My husband and I were traveling through Charleston West Virginia this weekend and found Harding’s. We had dinner there on the way to our destination then breakfast headed back two days later. Excellent food for both meals! Tried their special wilted salad (bought the dressing to go from their little gift shop), hamburger, fries and coleslaw and beef vegetable soup like my mother made for dinner. Breakfast was blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs and ham - the lightest fluffiest pancakes we have had in quite a long while ! We highly recommend this little restaurant- great food, fast and friendly service and a fun gift shop too.
We had a take-out dinner from Harding’s Family Restaurant in February 2022. We were staying at the motel next door, and there were few options for eating in the area. Our meals were adequate – BBQ sandwich and BLT, both of diner quality (diners are good at BLTs). A [large] side salad – the restaurant’s wilted lettuce salad -was filling and tasty, with its house dressing and real bacon bits. Harding’s does a good job of serving Southern comfort food. Traveling through Charleston, we would eat here again.
Older country style restaurant that’s been a the community since 1980. Food is simple home cooked fare that can be very hit or miss. Tonight was a hit. We ordered the Sunday special baked steak with mashed potatoes and green beens, and the farm hand skillet. The baked steak was tender and a nice size portion. The gravy was really thick. The mashed potatoes are pretty standard and the green beans were well seasoned. The skillet consisted of eggs, sausage, shredded potatoes, peppers and onions. All was good and we left happy. We have always had nice servers that aren’t overly attentive, they let you have your space, which is fine for us. Most of the clientele are 60+. The kind of place you go when you want to be reminded of your great grandparents.
Our waitress was top notch, exceptionally friendly, good down home food. The portions were large and the prices were reasonable. They serve all day breakfast and I would definitely recommend the pancakes, as big as the plate and extra fluffy.
I would post a bad review, but I'm not because everyone there is usually very nice. food is always great. but we were there a little bit ago and a worker was getting yelled at in front of two customers. right in the open. She could of at least took her to the back. Completely disrespectful to her and customers. That will drive away more customers than whatever she was yelling at her for. Whoever the worker was was very nice and provided great service.
food was awful. and service was just as bad...
The service was exceptional and the food was great! We live 2 hrs from there and was just passing thru and decided to stop. We were very pleased. I would recommend this place to anyone driving thru this area to stop and check it out. You won't be disappointed.
