We always enjoy our dinners there! Every time there is a different menu and it makes this restaurant really interesting and worth exploring. Every dish we purchased through the years were fantastic. The quality of food is really high. People working there are always kind and ready to give good advice (especially with the wine choice).
Dinner: What a fantastic meal! Asparagus appetizer was delicious and full of flavor - egg custard is a unique addition but worked very well. The egg yolk ravioli is a rollercoaster of flavors in a marvelous way. Our main entrees, ribeye and swordfish, were perfectly prepared with flavorful accompaniments. Huge kudos to our server, CT - he was charming and took great care of us during our visit. It was an hour wait to get seated, but the food and service were outstanding.Breakfast: We also ate here for brunch the next morning. They don't accept reservations, first come first serve. They were clearly shortstaffed and the two hostesses were having difficulty managing both the waitlist and their own stress (one looked like she hated being there). The cooks were still producing quality dishes and the servers were doing well, it just took a while to get a table - 50% of the tables were available, they just didn't have enough people working to handle the number of patrons.
Tyler was an excellent sommelier. Food was very good. Fish special was very good. Wait for our food after we ordered was long. Wouldn’t adjust our 7p reservation to 6p although tables were open. Staff was mostly attentive.
Father's day dinner was amazing! We had the mussels and clams for starters and it came with a piece of bread with a really good spread. The broth was so flavorful and both mussels and clams were so tender. My husband had the Yellow Fin Ahi which was nicely seared and he loved it. I had the special of the evening which was the Swordfish and it was thick and perfectly cooked. Very satisfying dinner!
Perfectly prepared food and a killer wine list. Service was impeccable with ambience to match. We visited for dinner and for brunch. Brunch was also flawless executed. The chefs here know what they are doing.
We had a family bday lunch. It took over 20 minutes to get 8 drinks prior to our meal and we were never asked again if we wanted another. Drinks average at best, one was missing the lemon and olives, we attempted to get staff attention with no luck and had to go up to the bar. 3 working persons passed right by us and didn't answer or hear our excuse mes. It was just item after item that made for a never again feeling on this place. A beef burger was over cooked, when the waitress suggested medium. Two salads warm that sat under the light for too long, crab dry. Asked for a side of dressing and meal was completed by the time she came with dressing as a bus person was taking empty plates. The person we asked for dressing was setting tables as we tried to wave and wave for her attention, never got it so ate salad plain. All in all a meal for over $780.00 fora party of 11 was a complete fail wood and drink wise!
We ate here twice for brunch during our stay at Willows Lodge and both times it was SO wonderful! Everything we tried was just excellent, I could have ordered it all again. They were very helpful with our request for gluten free options as well. Drinks were great too! My favorite thing was the mac and cheese – so rich and creamy, it was the stuff of my dreams. Loved Barking Frog so much!
We had both dinner and breakfast here while staying at The Willows hotel, of which the restaurant is a part. Our dinner was as good as we’ve had in some top European restaurants. Service was attentive, friendly and never rushed. The wine list is extensive and the sommelier extremely helpful. The food was outstanding! I had an asparagus appetizer with prosciutto and bearnaise that was the best I’ve eaten, and a terrific main of egg yolk ravioli with mushrooms, pesto and kefka sausage. My wife had a poached halibut that she loved. This was a great meal on every level! Portions are generous. It’s not inexpensive but I’ve been to restaurants that were twice the price, half the fun and for worse food. This was a memorable meal! Breakfast was also excellent.
I was so excited to go to this restaurant for my 70th birthday but it didn't turn out as I had hoped. I ordered scallops and they were overcooked. There was one item on my plate that I asked the server what it was and he put it on a knife and took it to the kitchen then returned with the item still on the knife and said it was a parsnip chip. I thought it odd that there was only one on my plate. There were four of us at the table and two liked their meal. The other two wished we had gone to the Herb Farm. We did enjoy our room at the Willows Lodge.
We had a lovely celebratory dinner with excellent service. They offered amazing cocktails and I had easily the best duck I have ever had in my life. My friend's halibut was overcooked, but they quickly made it right and she said it was perfect the second time. The desserts were quite good, too. I didn't want to share my banana chocolate mousse. My friend asked for an espresso martini even though it wasn't on the menu and it was quite beautiful and tasty. I had never eaten at this restaurant before, but will be back for special occasions.
