Very decent "hot plate" Mexican restaurant. The food is consistent. It's not awesome. But it's comforting and you get what you'd expect to get: rich, creamy beans under melted cheddar cheese, meats with grill marks served on sizzling cast iron platters, impossibly large drinks served in fish bowls on stems, and chips and salsa that are consistently kept topped up without having to bug anyone. They aren't breaking any new ground and pushing the frontiers of Mexican cuisine. But what they do they do well and the service is always attentive and friendly.

I live nearby and was driving around just looking for some undiscovered Mexican - my previous 'go to' food cart was just gone one day - so I stopped here for a dinner. I sat outside and had a good cross ventilation and a view of the parking lot and Kentucky Fried. The drink menu was heavy with seemingly over-priced cocktails, especially the tequila or vodka kind, but they also had several Mexican beers. That awaited me at my table but the actual menu was yet to come. The menu was one of those naugahyde-bound things you'd find at expensive restaurants, which was a clue, but the actual contents veered to the $20+ dollar range, and there were a lot of seafood and suft and turf options. All seemingly pretty costly. I ordered the darkest Mexican beer they had, and a steak medium-rare with real pinto (?) beans, not refries. What I got was a steak well-done but not yet rubbery, an anonymous serving of 'spanish rice' and black beans (not ordered but which turned out to be the best part of the meal). The server was attentive and food came in good time. He even found me in the parking lot later and returned my credit card - my bad, but good on him - which got lost at the time of payment. $40 bucks for an overcooked steak, a beer and a side of good black beans was a little steep for my liking. I really can't imagine why I'd like to return here, it was ho-hum, except those black beans which I hadn't even ordered. When looking for good places you want to eat, and some just flame out.

I think you should know the large margarita is 40oz!The food never disappoints.

My second time there was not as good as the first. Will I ear here again? Yes!The staff are wonderful! The seat you upon arrival. Will be quickly served amazing salsa and freshly made warm tortilla chips. My fiancee and I shared a medium strawberry margarita and that served us perfect. The food is great! I guess I just wasn't feeling it the second time around. Not their doing❣️Go give it a try!

The service was excellent, and I mean spot-on perfect. The restaurant is clean and the prices are decent. The only reason why I didn't get it five stars was the food quality, which is on par or above most Mexican-style restaurants in Vancouver, but didn't "wow" me.

Loved the food it was absolutely delicious the piñacolada the best I've had yet the service was supurb beyond belife and over all exsperiance for my first visit is a definit 20

Carne asada burnt beyond recognition! Everything on the plate tasted burnt. The chips and salsa were the best part of the meal.

Food isn't good, and this is not different than our one other experience here. It was very busy tonight of course but the food all seemed like it was made days ago. Ground beef tasted like dirt. Chips were SUPER stale. Also witnessed a bartender/server rinsing and reusing the pineapples for whatever alcoholic beverage was served in it. For multiple different people. They just rinse them quickly in cold water and take it back to the bar and fill it up and serve again.

Absolutely nothing special about Las Flamas. My husband and daughter had been there a few years back and it was not too bad so we decided to give it a second try and boy did we regret it. Aside from it being heavily overpriced the food is mediocre. However the service is probably a 4/5 as the server was attentive, but not one bit of friendliness (never smiled and was very dry). We paid $20 for each burrito that my daughter & niece were craving which only included asada, rice, beans and cheese. Never again! I don’t recommend this place for authentic Mexican food. I wouldn’t mind the prices as much if the food was up to par.

the food was so good, and I can't believe how fast out order came out.
