These are not the most traditional bahn mi, but they are generous flavorful sandwiches. My lemongrass chicken had more meat than is expected, but breast not the traditional thigh. Generous veg and appropriate sauce. The bun was very good - a little more solid than the aethereal traditional bun, but with a nice crust and light middle. Apparently they bake on-site, and as an avid baker I was impressed. Hot sauce on the side has chunks of jalapeno or maybe Serrano pepper. Hubby got the grilled pork and said the flavor profile seemed more Korean than Vietnamese, but it was tasty and generous meat portion. He felt the hot sauce also read more Korean - most bahn mi just has pepper slices - but notes it packs real heat. The coffee should be sweeter, stronger, and richer, traditionally, but was a very nice iced coffee option. "Better than anything at Starbucks" was his comment.
The worst banh mi I have ever had. It was the bread. It's supposed to be a crisp light Baggett. This was more like a dense bread that soaked up and become a mushy mess. I had high hopes and was very disappointed.
My favorite food cart, outstanding food , friendly staff. I’ve had the lemon grass, and bbq chicken with rice, and sandwiches. Great flavour, and good value.
Ordered the lemongrass chicken with rice. Everything was really good! I didn’t even plan on eating that night but I couldn’t resist. My friend saw mine abd ordered something as well. The service was excellent, told me exactly the flavors they use and how fresh everything is.
My favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Vancouver and it’s a food cart!? Seriously it’s amazingly good. The beef salad with eggs is my personal favorite. It’s TOO good. ;-)(They even home make their mayonnaise, everything is so fresh there!)
I had the same experience as another reviewer - the bun was just a soft roll, not the crispy bun that defines a banh mi. Won’t be returning. Alas.
Today my bread had no crust. I think the baker forgot to steam the oven. But I'm still giving 5 stars because every other time the food has been perfect. Best Banh mi in vancouver or portland.
Excellent food and service. We lost time while drinking our flights at Brothers Cascadia Breweries. They not only brought our food to us in he outside patio. But, gave a couple pieces of meat to our little puppy.
We had never had Banh Mi before eating here, and we love it now! The food is fresh, and cooked perfectly. The person who's been on staff when we've gone is so nice and really knows how to make food perfectly. We'll be going here as often as we can!
Amazing banh mi, wraps, and salads--and excellent service! Ingredients are fresh and prepared with lots of TLC. Happy to have found this food truck close to home!
