This looked like one of the nicest Sushi restaurants in the downtown area. And it was. However, it was pricey and we personally had a few issues that I will be aware of if we return.I’ve been a sushi fan for many years and was excited to see that they had Salmon Belly and Tuna Toro (Fatty Tuna). The Salmon belly was amazing, but we were shorted one order that we found out when the bill came that we still were charged for it.The Tuna Toro, at $75ish for 2 orders was very disappointing. It wasn’t trimmed so both orders had the thicker fat still attached which took away from the butter smooth marbled meat. Probably the worst cut I’ve ever had and at that price it just made the experience less than 5 stars. The Mackrel was AMAZING.The Salmon, and all other Sashimi was perfectly cut and in slightly larger cuts then I’ve had at other places. They also had a baked lobster roll that was amazing.Lastly, if you go here and do not try the Fuji apple sake, your missing out. They also had fresh wasabi, but also the cheap paste. Which was something I hadn’t seen before on the same plate.Overall I will return when I want to impress guests, but I will probably not order the Tuna Toro. Too high of a price to risk having to complain, which I tend to ignore and just deal with it. Like we did this trip. That’s what google reviews are for. ?
Best place to eat Sushi
My wife and I had a wonderful experience dining in at THEKOI this past Saturday. Portions were easily shared between the both of us. Our Waiter was funny and attentive. The food was A+, from our appetizers to the Nigiri were outstanding. Can't wait to come back and bring our kids for a family outing.10/10 will be back soon!
Their menu is great of course, but also the price. Would recommend it!
came to Washington for the weekend and glad to say I found this place. it was absolutely yummy
Great food. Good service Nice atmosphere.
This place is nice. I sat at the sushi counter I also had the eel rolls (unagi) but they aren't pictures here this is the dragon roll and cheesecake everything I got was very good and I will definitely be back. I'd dine in I wouldn't do take out the experience isn't the same.
If you are visiting the city of Tacoma or you are staying in the city center, do not miss the opportunity to go to this place with Japanese-style food and a relaxed and cool atmosphere, I recommend you order the beef Ramen and some sushi from its Menu the cocktails they handle are quite daring with a very personal mix and a great flavor the attention of the staff that attends is very good and motivates to leave them a good tip on weekends it is a bit full so Reservation but if you are going to do a week you will find fast and available table is a perfect place to go for dinner as a couple or take those friends with a demanding palate
Overall great place. Nice atmosphere, friendly service and great bartender. Assisted me with picking out a good drink and food based of my liking. However this place is pricey for sushi and their bang bag shrimp for the amount that is given. Food does taste delicious at least.
1st time here great service and beautiful restaurant. THE kalbi tacos were delicious meat was juicy tender great flavor with the creamy avocado on top it was a great fusion of flavors. The sushi is fresh and they have a lot of different cocktails. A good place for a date.
