I'm not sure about the high score this place receives...is it a testament to Tacoma's lack of good restaurant options or have locals accepted mediocrity? I remember this place when I was younger and it was a good option for those not willing to travel north for Japanese. This place has obviously changed hands and is now a complete waste of time and money. Multiple visits and multiple problems. Burnt food I wouldn't feed my dog, soup broth that came straight from the tap, and service that was both unaware of the menu and incompetent. It's depressing to see that one of the largest cities in the Sound deems this restaurant excellent.

Best quality raw sushi in the county. Place is awesome! Great chefs. My favorite server left about 2 years ago but the is place will always have my heart and soul.Used to go in on my day off and chill for a cop hole hours ordering nigiri, watching Netflix on my phone and talking with the chefs. Literally my favorite place on earth, moved away or I’d be there again.

We paid $12 for a pathetically tiny soft shell crab. You basically charged us for that lemon in the photo. At least include 2 crabs if they are this small. It was also very dry. We had looked forward to trying a new place for my husband's birthday but were very disappointed with such a high cost for meager, mediocre portions. We also ordered scallops which we did not receive. It was not the type of birthday dinner we expected.

Absolutely the best authentic Japanese restaurant in Tacoma. Recently lived in Japan for a few years and it is the same...yup, that authentic!! Sushi Tama was my Japanese mom's favorite so that is good enough for me! The fish is ALWAYS fresh and the presentation is just like Japan; beautiful, even when it is takeout.I live overseas now but every time I visit Tacoma I have a few meals there but always on the last day of my visit I have a meal at Sushi Tama in honor of my mom who passed away 21 years ago. If you want authentic Japanese food made right, eat at Sushi Tama and tell them you are there because of my mom Kinuko Abe Montague. Itadakimasu (いただきます?)

God we love this place. Takeshi, the chef, does amazing work, and the servers are efficient and knowledgeable. The ? rolls are what we come for, and make sure to try the Karatamba sake (you can't get it many places): it's like refreshing alcoholic spring water.
