Great place to get your tongue numb from the Sichuan peppers.Food was pricey, but was flavorful. Portions were just right. Not too small & not too big.The dumplings were in a delicious oil with bakchoy and other veggies. A must try for appetizers. The dan dan noodles really numbed the tongue, but had a comfort taste to it. Orange chicken was crunchy & well seasoned. Waiter provided good customer service and we were checked on multiple times if we needed anything. 3 dishes & a few drinks for about $55. Overall clean place with unique art up from a featured artist. Looking forward to going back and trying more dishes. Parking is plentiful.
Food is amazing. We try to drive down from Sandpoint every couple months to enjoy. However, they never update their Google hours for various days off or closed. This is now twice in a row we have driven down for Gordy’s (today for my husband’s birthday) where it says open in Google but is closed when we got there. Definitely disappointing after a 1.5 hour drive… and we have decided we will never make a special trip to come down to Gordy’s ever again, no matter how good the food is. Or we will have to call a week in advance to confirm I guess. But as another small business owner, I know it is not difficult to update temporary hours on Google and it would be helpful for people coming to enjoy their food.
Honestly the best fried rice I've had. And the serving size? I was expecting a bowl of rice but not a soup bowl of rice. I had to take half of it home and it's just as good four hours later. Amazing.Oh the service was great as well. But the fried rice! Amazing.
I hate to leave a poor review of a local restaurant but my experience twice now has been rough.I ordered pick up around 6:45 and was told it would be ready at 7:20 but when I arrived at 7:30, I was told they would have it soon...at 8pm they finally had it ready and told me they had accidentally sold my whole order and had to remake everything. I didn't make a fuss and I told the employees it was all okay because really I just was happy to finally have my order (I drove an hour for this). I also looked at my receipt later and I think they gave me a small discount! So that's nice. The hot and sour soup was amazing that's why I threw up a 2nd star. But the rest of the order was honestly inedible. They put way too much Sichuan peppercorn in everything and it ruins the whole dish. I LOVE spicy food and so does my husband, but this isn't just spicy, it numbs your mouth and leaves a STRONG bitter citrus taste for the entire evening. It can be used wonderfully in dishes but that's not the case here as they really overdo it.
Their spicy chicken dish is terrific. Lots of fresh and unique flavors and never short on spice ?.We had the spicy green beans starter which was flavorful in this chili bean paste sauce kinda thing. The Mongolian beef had some fun flavors that are not typical of Chinese places I’ve visited, very good.
Sorry 2 weeks belated. Had awesome meal at Gordy's, South Hill, near 30th Ave & Howard. Server was helpful pairing me up. Mongolian beef, extra spicy and special fried green beans. Wonderful and huge portions. And the topper, thanks to the 3 ladies across the way. One of them paid for meal. This had NEVER happened to me. But don't worry, I'll pay it forward.
I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking for authentic Sichuan food but overall it was fresh and okay. I’ve never had Dan Dan mian with the sesame sauce and it was an honestly unwelcome surprise. The chengdu chicken was pretty good, but it was all peppercorn and no chili, when typically there’s both. It had the great numbing sensation from the peppercorns but 0 spice or heat. My boyfriend enjoyed the sweet and sour pork. The hot and sour soup was very thick but otherwise okay. All in all, not too bad for Spokane — but definitely not at all what I was expecting.
An interesting menu organized by spice level. Enough vegetarian options to satisfy one! Some of the flavors and dishes are "different" rather than "standard" American-Asian food, so would recommend this to folks who are looking for something unique. For example, when ordering an entrée with peppers, I was told it was a peppercorn mouth numbing sensation rather than a chili pepper heat/spicy sensation, and feel that description was accurate based on my experience. Take out service was on schedule and friendly.
Received pork after riding the malo tofu without it. The tofu was also in a takeout container despite having a soup like sauce. The vegetables were not cute with a whole thing of broccoli, which I had to cut once getting home.
Well did a google search for top Asian food in Spokane and this popped up. I was discouraged at how far from our home north of Spokane is but let me tell you that we will be back and often. Excellent food is what you will find here at very reasonable prices.
