D-Lish! Excellent smoked flavor. Not over powering, just enough to flavor the meat and then taste the meat itself. We split a 2 meat plate of ribs and chicken. Would recommend both. We have a Trager and smoke a lot of stuff and we really enjoyed Betty Jean's. BBQ sauce is great and they sell it to go also. Comfortable and clean atmosphere. Friendly and attentive staff. Plates were removed when finished. Definately will be one of our go to's.
We have been to Betty Jean's twice. The first time was over-the-top delicious. The 2nd time on a Friday night was terrible. Be advised that phone-in orders take precedence over dine-in customers. When we arrived the girl at the cash register decided it was more important to take a phone order than to take ours. After ordering, we waited so long for our order that we began to wonder if we had been forgotten. We finally asked a waitress and she said they were running behind because of all the phone orders being filled. When they brought our food, the wonderful cinnamon butter was missing from the hush puppy order. The waitress informed us they had run out of butter. The ribs were tough--maybe something from two days ago because they had run out??? My advice is DO NOT GO HERE ON A FRIDAYEVENING!So disappointing after our first wonderful experience.
First customers in the door today. My mom just flew in from North Carolina and we had to go here. I had the pulled pork, so yummy ! The best part for me though, HUSH PUPPIES !!! I wonder if they're available by the dozen ?
Incredible!! The brisket is tender but not mushy, not at all dry, and has just the right amount of smoke.The wings are literally the best wings I've ever had - delicious!The cole slaw is good. It's creamy and vinegary.The hush puppies with cinnamon butter were a great dessert.Would absolutely recommend!
We got the pulled pork and 3 side sampler! The mac & cheese is made exactly how it should be, the meat is tender and the house BBQ sauce was great. We also enjoyed the little kick of spice on the green beans! Highly recommend people go try out this new BBQ spot on the hill!
This place is doing a soft opening at the moment. Very friendly staff was excellent with suggestions and what to try. We did take and both got grandma special ( I think it was called) which was 3 meats and two sides (brisket is a few dollars extra). We had ribs, sausage, pulled pork and brisket. Brisket was a little fatty, some like it that way, we don't. Sauce is good but has a bit of a bite, had mac and cheese and corn. Mac and cheese was a little over cooked (mushy noodles) but I find that common with a lot of restaurant mac and cheese, corn was good but def has a pepper bite. We also ordered a side of hushpuppies that came with a side of a sweet Cinnamon butter, they were tasty and had a nice outer crunch. Two dinners, side of puppies and tip was $70
We were excited to see a BBQ place on the south hill. We had to try it. We each got the grandma plate. You get to chose 3 meats. We each got something different so we could try all of them. We were impressed. The sausage was excellent. Ribs and chicken fell off the bones. The brisket was tender and flavorful. The pulled pork had good flavor but I think it needs to be in a sandwich. The sweet corn is a must and the Mac was pretty good too though my favorite part of the meal was the hush puppies with the cinnamon sugar butter. I was disappointed I was too full to have the chocolate peanut butter dessert. We will definitely be going back. They had great service. Happy faces and very patient as we tried to figure out what we wanted.
Brisket was nice and fatty, not dry like you can run into. Ribs were meaty and tender. Mac and Cheese was baked but not dried out which was nice. Hush Puppies are highly recommended, they are like a donut! Nice tang to the sauce. only minor criticism was the Lemonade was very sweet.
This is absolutely delicious BBQ! the ribs and brisket are so tender. I love the spicy BBQ sauce although she has regular too that’s very good. I loved the smoked green beans! Best green beans EVER! Apparently someone didn’t like them so she changed them up. They are still very good and obviously fresh green beans but the original ones were mind blowing! Good food! Good service! Thank you for bringing sone great variety to the south hill food options! We definitely needed that!
