So always wanted to eat here. Finally got the chance, and I was not disappointed. Being Irish, I love spots like this, Irish decor, awesome menu, and a server who was more connected then usual. You can tell the were absolutely short staffed but no complaints. They all did everything together, jokes, laughing, and having a good time. Definitely going back!!!!
I guess this place is now called McCraken's Irish Pub & BBQ.Stopped by around 5:45 pm on Wednesday, 3/30/2022. Upon walking in I noticed we were the only ones there save for four or five sitting at the corner of the bar. Not sure where to sit or if we should wait to be seated but heard someone call out, "Just seat yourself."Then heard someone sitting at the bar on the other side of the room loudly ask, "What is wrong with you? Are you sick? Why are you wearing a mask?"Throughout our meal, Mr. Loud Guy continued to loudly try to string together words to make sentences. These sentences seemed to have a requirement of the F-Word making up about 65% of the sentences.Later Mr. Loud Guy used, not once, but twice, a super-offensive term targeting members of the Asian American community. This did not sit well with my Chinese guest. Mr. Loud Guy also suggested 'they,' obviously referring to us, may prefer going to Black Straw Tea Bar & Kitchen, the Asian place across the street.I heard the two ladies who had come in and sat behind us say how offensive the man was.Yes, I get it. Freedom of speech and all that. The problem is staff did not seem to have any interest in shutting Mr. Loud Guy down. It was as if that was acceptable behavior in the place. And since it seemed like he and his friends are regulars there, I can only assume racism and mask shaming are acceptable at McCraken's Irish Pub & BBQ. And that is sad because the two items we ordered were pretty tasty. But since there are many dining options in Spokane and Spokane Valley, McCraken's Irish Pub & BBQ will likely not be a place we would return to or recommend.
This was our first time eating at this establishment. Read reviews before going, most of them were really good but I wasn't impressed at all...Ordered the fish and chips which came out very thin (like 1/4' thin) and very over fried. Got 3 pieces and only one piece was pretty decent but that's about it. Also ordered the highly rated onion rings, which I thought were not that great as per all the reviews, just regular onion rings and they charge $11 for a small basket. We had to send them back due as they were WAY overdone and some were almost black. After about another 10 min wait we got a new basket and these looked good but just tasted plain. The waitress was very nice and very understanding. Don't think I will be going back, sorry to say.
This place looks unassuming from the street. We weren't sure where we were having lunch when we wandered downtown for the day. The smells coming from this place lured us in. I had the fish and chips, it was light and crunchy and served in a large filet. The chef prepared homemade cocktail sauce for me. The fries were crispy and fluffy. Some of the best fish and chips I've had in years. We also ordered the shepherd's pie, which had a deep rich gravy and was packed with delicious veggies and meat, a wrap for the boring daughter and the Reuben. Friendly and fast service. There's dollars all over the walls with people's names. Apparently to get your dollar up there you have to sing on the bar. We came during the day with the whole family but we want to come back for a night of drinking and more fish and chips!
Great food and a pub atmosphere. Loved it. Wife had beef a potato classic i believe it was called and daughter and I fish and chips. Thanks much ladies.
Incredible food and service. We will definitely return to this restaurant. We had some of the best stew my wife and I agreed we have ever had and The corned beef was deliciously prepared to perfection. The peanut slaw was very good however, much too spicy for my wife and I. We will order the salad next time.
Just driving through Spokane and happened upon this gem! Great staff and delicious food
What an awesome lunch! The owner, Todd took great care of us!We had the burnt ends sandwich. AMAZING! DEFINITELY WORTH THE TRIP!
Not bad by any means, but a little overrated. Critically lacking in Murphy's or Beamish, the only stout you'll find here is Guinness. The menu items accurately reflect some of the Irish standards, but the execution is somewhat lacking. To be fair, I have yet to try the BBQ items, but the corned beef was acceptable, the fish and chips had good texture but was utterly lacking in flavor (not a problem for vinegar lovers though), and the meat and potatoes are great but the sliced roast beef is an odd choice. Just throw a nice Sunday roast on it instead and you have a 10/10 dish.Overall, O'Doherty's is a good restaurant with some Irish staples, but there are a few shortcomings holding them back from being a great Irish restaurant.
Terrible, worst breakfast we've ever had. Don't come here. We waited over an hour for food, the potatoes were so dry from being under the hot lamp they were inedible. The owner should have been there helping. We never got water or coffee refill. I fed my toddler jam to hold him over. No one had their food, what a scam!
