It is about what you would expect for gentrified Mexican food. It's not bad but not my 1st choice. This location wasn't as nice as the one they closed on the South Hill a few years back. I think that the beverages are the best thing about this place.
Quick fresh Mexican food. Definitely a specific scope of Mexican food but always a great option for our family and the tortillas are fresh. My go-to is Chile roast beef enchiladas made with flour tortillas, habanero salsa and cotija cheese sprinkled after.
To the owner's - I've been to a lot of Cafe Rio's and this visit would have been one star if not your staff member up front. My order was not ready when the app said it was so I waited over 30 minutes and watched your store function. It is clear to see why there was a delay. The dinner rush arrived in force and the to-go line was as long as the main line. From watching the flow of customers, it's clear 2-3 more employees would help a lot. The main crew was working, but many looked new and/or lacking experience or training. I saw the help wanted sign up front so I'm sure you're aware of the need for help. What you may not be aware of is that this evening the main cash register was down. Or it was locked, staff kept asking where an employee was at, but she was a no show to work that day leaving your crew even shorter. The only way to ring up customers was the to-go till which meant your staff had to alternate ringing up main orders and to-go orders.I watched the gal in front run between the main line and the to-go line and get drinks ready while having to straighten out orders to ensure people got what they ordered in the above conditions. She did it professionally and as efficiently as possible. I asked her name and saw a look of horror as she thought she was going to get yelled at, but it was so I could give her a shout out here.Give Trinity a raise because she was the only one keeping your store moving that night. She rocked it- kept orders straight and people moving through that chaos with not enough staff and missing equipment.
Love Cafe Rio! Only thing I noticed is that when I get mild on my food is always sweet tasting..I'd rather it be less hot -no sweet and retain the flavor... the lime pie is to die for so good!
I was excited to go to lunch at Cafe Rio today. I have points earned up to get a free lunch. After ordering and waiting for food prep, I was told at the cashier that I could not use my points. It wasn't working. It happens sometimes. .... No concern, No options. No notice beforehand. No sign on the door. No lunch today. No stars for Cafe Rio, but apparently I have to add one.
Really feel like the quality has gone downhill. Tonight my tacos were just a soggy, sopping mess. The tortilla was so soggy I couldn't eat it. The chicken had no flavor and the pico de gallo is very bland. The only good thing to buy is the tomatio dressing and sweet pork. But they need to teach their employees how to drain the meat and pico before putting it on a taco!!
I always get the fire roasted chicken salad. It is so good! The pork one they recommend as popular is way too sweet for me, so I steer clear of it.The prices are a bit high, but the salads are easily two meals. Don't try to stuff yourself and finish it whole, or you will regret it.I like how at the end of a salad, you can turn the remains into a soft taco. Good thinking.
Amazing! Went during lunch rush and was in and out in 20min with at least 10 people in line in front of me! Never felt rushed but they were moving quick! Would highly recommend.
Slow service and staff spends more time chatting with themselves than paying attention to the customers. Doesn’t help when you tell them what you want then ask 10 times what you’ve already told them. Had one person in front of me and took at least 15 mins in the store waiting to have my order began. Won’t be returning to this location.
They did a little remodeling since we had last been in. There are now more tables so more seating is available. They also added larger tables outside for outdoor dining. They also added a drive thru which is nice, but the placement is a little awkward.
