My boyfriend and I came here for lunch. We were immediately greeted. The staff member explained that we could seat ourselves and showed us where the menus are. We were told that we are supposed to order at the counter and our food would be brought to us. The food came quickly as we ordered two small chowders and some drinks. It was not too busy while we were there. My boyfriend and I loved the chowder. I enjoyed my coffee. My boyfriend said his mixed drink was just alright. We felt that the chowder was on the pricey side for the size that we ordered. I did end up asking our waitress for some cobbler, which we were told would be added to our tab. We were confused as we had already paid for our other items. We figured that we would ask at the end of the meal.I'm giving this three stars because while waiting for the cobbler we finished our chowder. The waitress glanced our way multiple times and saw that we had finished. I saw her collect dishes from another table, then proceed to get on her phone afterwards. She then took the time to have a conversation with another staff member. Not once did she come to check on us. I had to go up to the counter to ask about the cobbler to which our waitress replied, "I didn't know when you wanted it." Mind you while waiting to ask about the cobbler our waitress and the other staff member made sure to finish their conversation before turning to address me.Our cobbler got there nice and hot. It tasted delicious. Our previous dishes were only collected after our cobbler had arrived. I would have rated higher if it were not for the inattentive service.
An absolutely amazing place! The Clockwork Violet cocktail is to die for so much yummy flavor is in that glass and the presentation checks all my boxes. The Haystack fries taste amazing! The Reuben is incredibly well made, they go hefty on all ingredients and light on the 1000 island dressing but give you a cup of the sauce in case you crave more. Definitely a 10 out of 10 place that I highly recommend to anyone!
Great neighborhood spot, food and service were terrific. Can’t wait for sunny weather so we can come back and try the deck!
They can't even be bothered to answer their phone to make a reservation for my birthday three days from now. I've known the owner Chris Hill since 1974, time for his outfit to go somewhere else. I'll go to the nearest restaurant and skip Blackbird
Although the menu is very similar to Hills and the food is just as good, I am not a fan of the counter service concept, I much preferred the traditional waitstaff format and I really liked the old color scheme better. I know things change, but it has taken something away from the desire to go there. But the food is still awesome, just don't know if the great food is enough to bring me back again.
This is the most delicious golden milk chai latte I’ve ever had. Highly recommend.
Sorry, we loved Hill’s. Now this is just one step up from a self-serve cafeteria. No ambiance, no style, and just okay food. Some restaurants are using the pandemic as an excuse for reducing all services. That’s what is going on here. We won’t be back.
For the nth time, I'm back here. This is a fantastic location! It's lovely and inviting. The staff is adorable, and the service is impeccable.
I have loved this place for years (back in the Hills days). The food is always good and I feel confident bringing people here because I know they will have a good experience. They have the best steak salad in all of the country (but I miss the fried onion) and I like their skinny fries. I'm so grateful they are still going strong!
Awesome food. The happy hour was great. Sat outside on their deck.
