It was my first time here, and the experience was terrific. You can have a simple buffet in Asian style and pick whatever you like (e.g., Beef, veg, seafood, etc.). After that, you are charged based on the food’s weight. The restaurant is spacious, well decorated with friendly and chilling vibe. The staff is so attentive and hospitable. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Not sure of many places that specialize in Malatang around. This one is nice and "close" to campus as in it's within walking distance. Still quite a ways on the Ave but not unreasonable. Overall a strong experience and will be back.Price is based off your bowl weight. Basically you walk in, grab a plastic bowl and tongs, grab whatever selection of items you want, then they weigh your bowl at the cash register and charge you for $13.99 a pound. My one complaint is that items aren't labelled so if you're unfamiliar, you might not have a clue what's what. For me, there were lots of fish balls and I was looking for the fish balls with roe and wasn't sure if they were the basic round ones or the typical ones with a pointy end. (hint, they're the standard fish balls with roe with a pointy tip). You're given a number then can go sit or wait wherever before they call your number after a few minutes. They tend to call numbers in Chinese first and English second, but if no one comes to claim it, I've seen the staff walk around to ask order numbers. I think that's pretty good service because some people can be deep in conversation and overhear their order. So the base broths look really spicy with their red color, but they're pretty mild (maybe 1 star). You can request more spiciness once they call your order and they'll add it on top. I really enjoyed the beef bone broth but wouldn't count out the tomato broth either. My bowl was about 1.5lbs and filled me up pretty well. I do think the quality here is pretty good, though the fish balls with roe could use some work. When I consider $40 all you can eat hot pot versus $30 1.5lbs malatang, I'd probably lean towards the hot pot. They're different types of food for sure, but similar enough for me to use as a reference point. Obviously neither is an option I'd pursue daily but on occasion.

I loved having lunch here. I was trying to post a pic to Insta, Laura and her Mother were so nice and helped me. My meal was well prepared and the atmosphere was great. I absolutely loved the entire experience!! :D

The spicy beef broth here is incredibly delicious, and the system of building your bowl is super fun! They don't seem to provide the variety in fishcakes/fish balls that they did when they first opened, but there's still a lot of fun things to add. My favorites are always the tripe, quail eggs, and bamboo shoots. If it was a bit cheaper, I'd be here every day!

Very tasty! Food is really delicious, very good and clean environment. Highly recommend!?✌️will definitely come here again

Always like it here. Although expensive. Although I wish the waitresses speak better English. I cringed when they got the number wrong. The food is generally healthy. I have been here regularly.

Food was ok, the tomato soup base is way better than the beef broth. However, customer service was terrible. We (4 people) went there on a Wed lunch and waited for a good 30mins, the restaurant is heavily understaffed, and the place overall isn’t super clean and welcoming.

Okay food but bad service. There's only 2 people working for both kitchen and counter. It takes long time to get your food. Besides, they yell your order number in a loud space which is terribly hard for customers to hear. They could have installed a TV/dashboard for ordering.

Very delicious food, I tried the new tomato soup base, very strong tomato flavor. I recommend you to try it. The service is the best I've ever had. I have been here several times before and I like the environment and food very much. I'll be back more often.

The taste is pure, we can choose two kinds of broth base beef bone soup slightly spicy or tomato soup! My favorite tomato soup. We can choose the ingredients we like, there different kind.
