Great cocktails, great food! 4 stars vs 5 just because it’s not the “best” shrimp & grits or chicken & waffles I’ve had, but still pretty good. The beignets were hot and fresh though!
I’ve been to Witness many years ago, but I went last weekend with some friends. I ordered the shrimp and grits, they were good, but It tasted heavy of Worcestershire sauce and I didn’t care for it. My friend ordered the biscuits and gravy and the biscuit was really homemade and it was all delicious! I also ordered the Beignets and they were light and fluffy. For drinks I ordered the Son of a Preacher Man! It has honey liquor in it I believe, but I had mine made with Peach liquor instead. I think I only had 3 but I was feeling the drink half way through the 1st one! The pews and the bar create a nice ambiance! I can’t wait to go over the summer when it’s warmer!
Food is okay. Not a bad cocktail menu. Their hot toddy recipe was good. Both their chicken and waffles gave me freezer bag vibes. The biscuits and gravy were delicious. However, not the greatest, did not come with much gravy. The hush puppies were simple and tasted good. They do not take reservations. The servers are great! If the food coming from the kitchen matched the servers great souls, I would give this place 5-stars.
Went for Sunday brunch. The cocktails will catch up with you. I had Son of a Preacher Man a day it was delicious and went down almost a bit too easy. Was feeling it after one. Had the chicken and waffles and it was done perfectly. The kitchen apparently dropped a waffle so they informed me and brought the table a replacement plate. Great service! Ambiance feels like a speakeasy meets a saloon ish vibe. I heard they are sort of church themed but I didn't get that. Still was a great experience.
Excellent cocktails, great vibe. Come here all the time for drinks and a snack. I'm Your Huckleberry is probably my favorite drink in town--super light and refreshing. Love that the outside wall opens up on nice days/nights.
Cocktails, biscuits & gravy, chicken & waffles make this the best brunch place in Cap Hill.
This place over all has good food but their beignets are not good. The oil they fry it in makes it taste funny and it’s not as fluffy or tasteful as I am use to. The drinks are good and the other food there is pretty good too. This place has a good happy hour.
Great atmosphere and service. Got a Palate Pleaser cocktail which was great. We were HUGE fans of the Hushpuppies which were amazing. Also got the Don't Call it A Comeback burger (burger was good, fries were not), and the Bourbon Glazed Pork Belly (delicious but sauce is slightly overpowering, and the plate was on the small side). Would recommend an appetizer as the entrees are a bit small. We enjoyed this place and would return.
Been here three times over the past month or so. The cocktails are exceptional, the food is pretty great (excellent fried chicken sandwich, fried pickles, etc) and the service is outstanding. Makes this southerner feel like home.
Such a cute place with great food and cocktails. My favorite beverage was “Christmas Came Early”. Loved the mac and cheese and fried chicken sandwich! They have a great selection of whiskey as well. Will definitely be back.
