The Wilder Ginger of old is gone. Presume inability to get help results in the poor atmosphere. Service was slow - absent to begin with. I feel for the people working there - both the new folks and the long time employees, but going to Wild Ginger Downtown is no longer special.
This location has changed for the worse. We sat down at 5:20 p.m. 10 minutes later a homeless man began to kick, roar, scream explitives and disrupt our dinner for about 35 minutes. The staff had to lock the doors, patrons were forced to watch as family members were trying to get in but also stay safe. The entire incident was horrible. The food was delayed in spite of both of our orders being placed at the same time. No communication from the staff about the delay occurred bc they were watching the commotion. It was very unpleasant. The location has most of the windows boarded up due to rocks being thrown into the restaurant. The food is good but not as good as 10 years ago.
Food is delicious. A pretty busy place so service can be a little spotty. We were still in and out in 1 hour 15 minutes. Plenty of time to make our show at the 5th Avenue. Highly recommend!!
Excellent food and friendly staff however, the area surrounding the restaurant is overrun with people smoking crack on the sidewalk and mentally disturbed people. When we arrived, we had to wait to enter because there was an altercation in front of the door and the restaurant staff quickly ushered us in and locked the door behind us. After we were seated, one of the men involved in the altercation came back and was banging extremely loudly on the door and windows trying to break the glass for about 10 minutes. He was screaming about the illuminati and exposed himself to the staff at the front of the restaurant. Management and the staff quickly alerted the police and remained at the front of the restaurant to restrain the man in case he was able to break in. The man was ultimately arrested but we were sitting at the front of the restaurant so this was a very scary experience for my young daughter to witness. I think that the management did the best they could to handle the situation but I would not recommend the location for families with young children because of the surrounding area. If you do go here, avoid 3rd and Pike, especially the west side of the street and follow the parking directions provided by the restaurant. As I stated before, the food was really delicious so hopefully more can be done by the city to help businesses in this area not be overrun by drugs and violence.
Excellent service. Outstanding food. Very tasty vegan options.
I have been to Wild Ginger before but was honestly shocked at how rough (open drug use and garbage) the blocks surrounding the restaurant have gotten. I am not blind to this in Seattle in general but this was definitely one of the worst blocks we walked through the entire day. We were seated at the front of the restaurant where the floor to ceiling window had been broken and boarded up. The glass was still in the trays at the bottom of the window. And then there was some sort of very loud banging/altercation at the door after we were seated. It was out of our line of sight and I didnât think it kind for me to get up and gawk, but I could see that others were very uncomfortable. None of the servers addressed it with their customers. I was actually to the point of looking for exits. Cops and ambulances with sirens blaring passed by multiple times. The food was really delicious but could not compensate for the sketchy vibes or slow bar service. We ordered a second round of drinks before dinner and the arrived after we finished eating. Overall pretty disappointed and would definitely suggest that anyone visiting Seattle and looking for a good meal to go to a location that is in a safer and cleaner area.
From the first point of contact each individual was friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and so flavorful - we went with the recommendations, the sea bass jicama wrap appetizer, 2 entrees, duck and noodles and 2 desserts - plus the Cheluer Cellers wine.
Good Foof courteous service
Waitress was lovely. Food was good but not amazing. I have had much better Asian food at local places back home. The real issue is the location of this restaurant. We walked from our hotel and had to pass approximately 30 drug addicts on the street leading up to the restaurant. We almost bailed on our reservation and went somewhere else. Inside needs some help with the ambiance/lighting.
Perfection as usual! Service was outstanding! Drinks and food absolutely delicious. Atmosphere always stellar.
