Superb skillet breakfast options (amongst many other deliciously worded dishes on the breakfast menu) - don't be afraid to ask for a little customisation... I added pork to the Shakshouka and it was exceptional. Coffee was nice, I went with a Cortado, might have been safer to go with something a little more common to the barista. Weather permitting, sit out front - it's such a cool neighborhood.
Felt compelled to review directly after my meal because it was such a pleasant experience. This place is an absolute gem. Very kind staff and service with obvious attention to quality and scratch-made cuisine. I had the eggs Benedict with ham and it was so good. The hollandaise was so balanced without being too heavy like other iterations. Eggs were beautifully poached. Loved the smashed potatoes too, just a great touch. The house hot sauce is also amazing. I was having a little bit of an off day and this meal picked it right up. So glad I went.
Seen this place after going to Rosellini’s bakery and Delancey’s pizza the past couple of years. Finally decided to give it a try after seeing reviews. Unfortunately, my eggs Benedict with Black Forest ham was just OK. The ham was over cooked and hard to cut through the English muffin. The pouched eggs were cook nicely. The hollandaise was thick and not flavorful. My husband had the Shakshuka and thought it was just OK. The bread was good that came with it to soak up the sauce. The staff was great and attentive. Maybe will have to try something else.
We had the snow crab eggs benedict and alla boscaiola, both are very delicious and savory. I am particularly impressed by the alla boscaiola, its reminiscing fragrance is warming not just my taste buds. Would come another time and try more.
Their Alla Boscaiola is so amazing - very fresh, flavorful and juicy. So happy to find this place for brunch in Ballard. Super friendly and sweet staff. Definitely will bring my friends there again!
Great brunch spot with new menu items each week. Nice ambiance and could easily enjoy a conversation. Everything was well cooked and tasted delicious.
This is the 2nd time we have been here for brunch, before and then after the pandemic and this place got even better. Be sure to make a reservation, as this place is so deservingly popular for its coffee, baked good and brunch menu. Be sure to get a mocha or their Nutella cold brew as they are exceptional coffee choices.Come hungry and order deep into the menu as the Alla Boscaiola and Camicia are tomato based breakfasts that warm you up and melt your morning stress away with savory understanding and delicious flavors. Will be back whenever I’m around this area.
Delicious and creative food, warm and friendly service, all around amazing experience at The Fat Hen. The butterscotch latte and sweet toast was amazing. I devoured the skillet & forgot to take a picture!
We went to the fat hen for the first time in several years today and we couldn't have had a better time. Not only is the food distinctive and unique but it is very high quality! My girlfriend had the Hollandaise sauce on the benedict with prosciutto and it was superb. I had the salmon toast and it was completely awesome. However the best part of the fat hen is the relaxed environment and the lovely people working there who are gracious and a lot of fun. Thanks for a very nice time on a chill Saturday morning and we will be sure to get up early to come over and see you more often. Also I am having the rest of my salmon toast and fingerling potatoes for dinner. Fat Hen FTW!
Make a Reservation. Seriously. This place is so good and so popular and so small. When we got there, there was a 2+ hour wait for walk-ins.The menu is small, but the food is delicious. I got the breakfast sandwich. It was amazing, though I struggled to eat it. It came with a great arugula salad. I also ordered one of the best mochas in life. Not too sweet, but oh so good. My boyfriend hot one of the skillets which was surprisingly good and the Fat Hen Fog. We also got the smashed potatoes, which were, again, amazing.Long story short: great food, but make a reservation.
