Amazing service and great tasting food. If you mostly like fresh, raw, and/or chilled shellfish then this is the place to go. We had 2 dozen oysters, a couple oyster shooters with mezcal (smokey and delicious), and the Dungeness Crab. We didn't leave a single bite unfinished!
Dawn (bartender) is awesome! She’s fun, makes great menu recommendations (see: how to best eat geoduck), and she’s a fantastic bartender! We’re definitely coming back.
The food was delicious. I thought the happy hour menu was too small, and the deals/discounts weren't that special. But the drinks and food were good, so I'm glad we tried it.
The oysters were so good. Also my first time trying geoduck. It was delicious!
This review is based on my overall experience. The food tasted amazing No joke, the buffalo oyster over a deviled egg was unreal. We also ordered the mussels which tasted great. Unfortunately, there were shards of glass in a couple of the mussels. We pointed it out to the server who promptly brought it back to the kitchen to get us a new order. The server came back and said that what we found was actually rock salt from a different dish and not glass. As someone who cooks with rock salt on a regular basis, that was not rock salt. It also did not taste like salt when it was in my mouth.I understand things can go wrong, but lying to the customer is not appropriate. They also added an 18% surcharge at the end of the meal which they conveniently don't tell you about prior to ordering. It seems they would rather surprise the guests after already ordering than be transparent and raise their prices. I have no problem paying a surcharge to support the employees but it is done in an extremely shady fashion.Between the glass and the surprise surcharge, I won't be back.
It was busy, but there were several seats available. It took a long time to be seated, and we weren't sure why the person who greeted us didn't seat us at the empty tables. Turns out they were her section. Food was delicious and fair priced. We especially liked the oysters, and thought it had a wide selection. Our server wasn't friendly, but other staff were. Overall the experience would have been 4* but there was a sneaky 18.9% service charge to a party of two that wasn't posted, as far as we could tell. I think it's unfair for staff and shady to not clearly post to customers before they dine. I would have preferred to pay higher prices than add on the service charge, which would result in a bigger tip for staff.
The oysters here are SO GOOD. Our server, Dawn, was incredible. Very knowledgeable about the food and the farm–she walked us through each type of oyster, where it came from, the flavors, and the process of harvesting the oysters from Taylor Farm. Definitely get their signature Olympia! Incredible dining experience and food. A new fav.
It was the final day of our two week vacation, returning to Seattle for one more night before heading home to Indiana. Searching for a restaurant within walking distance of our hotel, we decided to try Taylor Shellfish Farms. WOW, we experienced the best meal of our trip. Dawn R. was a delightful server and so helpful & patient with two inexperienced tourists! My husband raved about the oysters, the deviled egg/fried oyster appetizer, and the dungeness crab...all superb! My prawn cocktail and fish & chips were wonderful as well. It was a memorable dinner and we look forward to returning someday!
I normally don't write reviews but I had to take the time to share my experience at this location. The workers are incredibly helpful and kind. As a small family from Arizona we felt a bit out of our element but the workers at Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bar made us feel welcomed and appreciated. They catered to our every request with a smile and showed immense amounts of patience throughout our delectable dinner. A specific thank you to Josh, our waiter, for an experience we won't ever forget. Please know your kindness and helpfulness is incredibly appreciated. You are one of a kind!Highly recommend this restaurant! High quality food and high quality service.
Taylor shellfish is the restaurant attached to the Taylor shellfish farm, and the quality of seafood here is amazing. The space near pioneer square is classic Seattle, tree lined street with exposed brick and a big comfortable bar. The menu focuses on oysters, clams, and small bites. All fantastic. We had the geoduck sashimi and the shrimp cocktail. If you have not tried the geoduck in the Pacific Northwest this is the place to try it. Cut fresh to order and they give you two different parts of the geoduck that have different textures. The sauce and garnishes go really well with the crunchy salty geoduck. Decent wine selection, but the cocktail list is the star here. Try something different, too many to even review. Easy walk to either sports stadium, and if you get there before 4pm you can easily find parking and walk to the ballpark!
