Wishing the experience was better… my partner and I ordered tea, the sunset combo , shiro and some tibs, it was a long wait for the food and our server was confused and never brought us the tibs. We were full after the combo and shiro which tasted ok and received a hand written check with no itemized list. They processed my card and charged me 25 $ extra than was agreed upon making the cost per person x 2 more expensive. I pointed it out, they got confused and then reimbursed me with cash. I paid a cash tip and then checked my credit card bill a couple days later. I ended up getting charged an additional 5 $ without my consent . Wish I had a good experience as it was going to be our neighborhood spot

We decided to try this place out because of the other reviews. At first I was a little apprehensive because of the look of the building. However the Ethiopian food was really good. The owner should consider changing locations though. We had the Doro Begomen and the Lamb Tibs. Both was very good with large portions. Don't let the outside of this place fool you. The food is really good and service was good as well.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. It’s a no frills establishment if that matters—not to this person who ordered the meat and veggie combo; it was so plentiful and delicious. The waitress was very pleasant, the music good…It made me so happy to dine there

I wish I can rate this restaurant 0 starTheir food is junk. Always used Cash and carry meat. On top of that both Owners Abrehet and balti Bar have very poor manners. Hameyti himaqat menfes especially seyti Tekle weregna Teqeyeri Fake pente sidi hamayti.this place used owned by Sunny a beautiful woman with tasteful food. When those two witches came totally the house is in big mess.

This restaurant it used be really good but unfortunately they change ownership now the food tastes bad and the guest seating outside made unwanted lewd comments towards me when I went to pick up my food! Avoid it! I wish I went across the street to the other Ethiopian restaurant ? their food is not great either but is not as bad, plus much better customer service! Definitely no harassment from drunk guests!

Just a little neighborhood eatery, and not very grand from the outside, but the food is off the chain. I really appreciate that they don't water down the seasonings to attract non-East-African customers. We got the Sunset Combo (pictured) and the Avocado Salad (which is just avocado and a bit of tomato, with a nice sour-salty dressing, and some onion and jalapeño to add even more flavor. Plus they serve it with crusty Vietnamese bread - gotta love the South End.)The Combo has the usual variety - with LOTS of meat dishes. The yellow split peas could have used a little more seasoning the last time we ate from Sunset Cafe, but otherwise the whole plate was pretty much perfect. Two of us ate half the combo for dinner and I had leftovers for breakfast and lunch the next day.Plus there's a full bar and we plan on going back for a little night out.Ethiopian and Eritrean restaurants come and go in Seattle, but Sunset Cafe appears to be a keeper. It's become our go-to spot for tummy-warming food.

I wish there were a negative star, but I was forced to select it since the last option is one start.Let me tell you how the Sunset Cafe is the worst to eat or order food, and we threw to the garbage both " Tibis and Kayi Wat," which I picked. That means we have not eaten. One of my families tasted that because the smell is trouble. However, I tasted the Tibis, but I went to the bathroom as soon as I tasted. I have never been to a restaurant or cafe or food place such as Sunset Cafe. This is also my first restaurant review because I have never experienced such trouble with food and lodging.

Really wanted to like this place but felt the service was really not good, the server rarely checked on us and there was some real communication issues about getting some water to drink on a hot day. The food also took a very long time to come out and one of my group was ready to leave due to the wait. When we did get the food it was pretty good but the injera was a bit stale/dry and not as moist as expected from previous experience. We also got fuul and while I haven't had the dish many times I don't think it traditionally should remind me of cafeteria chili con carne. Not a bad taste at all, just not what I was expecting. I understand they seemed to be understaffed so I don't want to be too harsh but I want to let others know there is a lot of room for improvement.

Friendly staff. I had the Sunset combo platter. They have vegetarian options. Priced really well! Outdoor seating available.

Great, authentic experience. The only place I've been able to find Shekla Tibs. Friendly staff and elicits food and coffee.
