Overall great service and good food!
So we decided to stop by after my kiddos doctors appointment. They must have just opened up because it was extremely quiet. But when we walked to the counter the young lady greeted us with a smile and asked hiw can she help...not the type of service we are accustomed to in Seattle. The people were friendly and the food was soooooo good. we had catfish, greens, yams and shrimp and grits (between the 3 of us). I am from MS, so I am really particular about my catfish and this was perfect! when we got ready to leave, the cook ask about our meal and invited us to come back. I give you guys 5 out of 5 and I will be referring everyone I know. pS- there were plenty of leftovers so my husband ate some of the fish. he is going there for lunch today! ☺️
Huge disappointment today unfortunately. Waited over an hour and a half for our food. The items we eventually got were pretty good, but can’t say I’d return based on the service.
I got the seafood platter with catfish, red beans and rice and greens. When I got home I noticed the catfish was totally undercooked. I can't believe that I was served this. The sides were delicious. The customer service was great. They offered to remake it but I was totally turned off by the looks what I had in front of me. I won't be returning at all. They can keep the money and the tip I left.
I'm definitely not a fan of this place. A friend of mine wanted fried catfish & this was one of the only places open before 4p. So we walked in & ordered.Seafood PlatterCatfish & Grits3 Shrimp poboys to go.Sides mac n cheese & yamsThe seafood Platter seemed normal. I had the catfish & grits. I've never heard of the two combined. I've had only negative experiences eating southern fair in this area. The catfish was served in/on top of the grits with fresh veggies & the grits looked frothy & milky. I knew this had to be some sort of Caribbean restaurant vs southern type comfort.I never think of catfish & Caribbean. As a Louisiana native i don't trust these hybrid dishes they pass up here. The flavor was edible but im not a fan of onions, bell peppers, mushrooms on top grits or catfish. Or wet fried fish. I ate some of the dish. The yams were soft but a miss. The mac & cheese was a miss for me too. I'm not used to paprika on top of it.I know better than to trust these places bc its just not what I'm used to. I also didn't understand the concept of 1/4 full containers of tartar sauce. The waitress was really nice and could tell we weren't feeling the food. But, I just said it wasn't what I expected. Oh, make sure you're not in a hurry if you dine in bc you'll be sitting there & realize its been a minute before the good comes out.
The grits and shrimp were delicious. The chicken and fries were as well. However, the yams had no taste at all and the carrot cake tasted freezer burnt.
It wasn't that great, I had the Shrimp and Grits and it tasted very much something out of a box or powdered instant mixed the grits. The items I ordered wasn't on the menu when I got there. It was also, confusion with my order when I went there. I ordered online and my order didn't show up, the manager came in and saw my order when the app was pulled up. But, the employees didn't.
They were really accommodating to my food intolerances and the staff was really nice. We loved their food it was delicious!
The food here is absolutely amazing perfectly done perfectly season very reasonably priced with a great clean atmosphere and very warm friendly personal service I cannot recommend this place enough this is easily some of the best if not THE best soul food in Seattle if you are in town absolutely do not miss an opportunity to go here I promise you will not be disappointed
