I waited years to go here but finally made it in and it was everything I expected. The omakase is the way to go, along with any a la carte after and dessert. The menu was easily modified to be gluten free and the waitress paid close attention to ensure I received the gluten free versions. The online scheduling made it easy to set a reservation for four and update it as plans changed. Atmosphere and wait staff was pleasant. The bill was high, @ $150 each, but very very worth it for a high end sushi and memory.
The website states Edomae traditional sushi Pacific North West style. I don't think anything on the menu was from North West. The fishes were not spoiled but definitely not fresh according to my standard. Nama tako (raw octopus)totally disappointed us. The best fish for the night was Engawa (halibut fin). Of course, most of customer won't never order these. The best dishes tonight were the 2 desserts. $75 per person is not expensive but definitely not cheap in respect to the fish freshness.
Had a great time here. The tasting menu is really good value and we were really full after!Would highly recommend also getting the blackened cod. And the desserts as add ons. The water cake, and tiramisu were amazing.
You pay for an experience and a meal - both are worth it! Enjoy the 6 course meal from start to finish in under 30 minutes without feeling rushed. They are on point with the timing. Reccomend that you arrive not too hungry but more in the way of I could eat. The food is enjoyable but not filling for most. The 35$ sake pairs excellent with all the sashimi. Take away is available but it's best to dine in to preserve the quality.
Wonderful spot for a quick omakase! I didn't have a reservation but was able to snag the last table with no wait! They did a wonderful job at adapting the chef's choice dinner to be only fish. Staff was very friendly and carefully explained each piece of fish. I was dining solo and was in and out in 50 minutes. Only thing that could have been improved is if there were more vegetable and salad-type appetizers available. My meal was only fish and rice. Delicious meal overall, looking forward to returning next time I'm in town
Shiro's was one of the better omakase experiences I have had. Further, it was a great value at $75/person for 19 pieces. Every bite was fresh and flavorful. My personal favorite was the tuna course, but I thoroughly enjoyed it all. We finished the meal with the matcha tiramisu (added on).Would definitely come back whenever I'm in the Seattle area!
A minor disappointment from consistent outstanding food with great track record. Been consistently coming to Shiro's since 2016, it might be a one off this time but there are a few issues made me unwilling to come again after this time.Omakase: the rice tastes hard, a bit cold, lack of enough seasoning somehow. Instead of a well made sushi rice, it somehow tastes more like leftover rice. In nigiri, tastes tight and not at mouth temperature, makes the rice doesn't go well with balance of the fish. When I brought this up to kitchen I was told this is Jiro's original rice.Uni: big disappointment since they were from Hokkaido. You can still taste the uni's sweetness but they does tastes stale with a stinky after taste. I've got more than one piece to see if it's consistent and unfortunately they were. Id say maybe Sunday night is too far from when they might be imported. However I've never had such tastes uni from Sushi Kashiba or Kappo Tamura.Otoro: didn't take a photo but Otoro has its fiber broken up from the middle. I'm not an expert on fish, just as a personal experience I found that usually happens to non premium cuts of bluefin tuna. Also need to consider they were sourced from Mexico not Japan.i also found they wouldn't help refill your water if not in transparent glasses but would always help fill up other guests' alcohol. I guess unfortunately that'll be my last visit. When paying a premium price I'd prefer to get premium quality of food.
A wonderful experience. Showed up at opening time without a reservation and was promptly seated. Service was quick and attentive. The four course menu is required for each diner alongside appetizers, drinks and seasonal specials. Everything was wonderful from the iced green tea to the wasabi to the sushi. I will let the pictures speak for themselves.
The quality of the sushi, presentation and the tastes were wonderful. Omakase was well curated. This is probably the best quality sushi / Omakase place in Seattle. You get to enjoy different kinds of fish, different parts of this fish with different flavor and texture, something that you don’t usually get from an average sushi restaurant.
Reserved a spot in advance because they say it's the spot to go. The ambience its nice and the staff is professional. We did the 19 pc omakase course, which was only $75/person. The sushi style is edomae style, which is my favorite style of sushi.Overall the omakase was delicious, but I would not say its anything crazy. I normally enjoy the omakase style of sitting by the bar and getting each piece served one at a time, but since we are getting four to five pieces at a time, i feel like it ruins the experience connection from person to chef. Also highly recommend the Black Cod Karrage and Salmon Kama, both were very delicious if you want to do more than just the omakase.Overall, everything was pretty much delicious.
