Pretty good sushi, but nothing that is out-of-this-world. It was well-made, but lacked a lot of the crisp freshness of fish from other areas nearby, and there was a bit of umami undertones missing. On the other hand, they stock the best soy sauce I have ever found at a sushi restaurant. Paired with the edamame, that soy sauce took everything to another level.
Tried to order the “homeless roll,” and employee couldn’t hear me well, so I described the roll as “homeless, like the term used for the unhoused people in Seattle.” The employee exasperated, said “oh my god your an idiot” and hung up the phone. If you don’t like the term, it shouldn’t be on the menu! Lost a loyal customer.
This had great and filling sushi. We ordered too much accidentally as we had ordered tempura (which came with so muuuuch) but tempura came in the deluxe veggie roll! We also ordered edamame and miso soup as starters which were perfectly seasoned. I ordered unagi nigiri and a sushi roll with unagi (eel) and it was 10/10.
Great Sushi - we love to sit at the bar and hit up their happy hour menu. Tuna is spicy! Service is kind and attentive and they treat us like regulars, even if we are not there all the time. Gyoza is extra crispy.
Shiku Sushi is a Japanese restaurant in the older part of Ballard. It's quite small inside, their menu is about average size, prices are really good for their portion sizes, and tastes are on point. The staff are friendly and food comes out pretty quick, mainly because there aren't that many tables inside, probably around a dozen or so. Call ahead for reservations if you can since they can get quite busy. It is kid friendly which is always nice for families too. Parking is a pain around this part of the neighborhood so be prepared to walk a bit.
My husband and I, celebrating our anniversary, got sat at the bar for all the goods! Lots of Drinks, appetizers, a million sushi and nigiri.sitting right in front of the bartender, which never even said hello, no acknowledgement what’s so ever. I finally said hi! He says “what’s up “can we please get some drinks”? His response “ give me a second “…. Like really?? I have sat I front of you for 15min! Needless to say we got our coats on and left. We will never be back and I will tell all my friends and family about this restaurant. And will also be personally emailing the owner.
Love this place. The sushi is interesting and delicious. They also have a variety if other street food dishes if someone in your group isn't a fan of raw fish. The seating, especially the booths are comfy and cozy. The drinks are worth the price and the service is always excellent.Update: I've been eating at Shiku occasionally for about 6 years now. I still love them. The staff is always on point, as is the food. Their current outdoor seating situation makes for a cozy and romantic meal. Don't change Shiku. You're one of my favorites.
Let me preface this by saying that the food is a solid 4.5 stars. I’m giving this restaurant a 3.5 star review because the entire package was not five stars. Ambience is as much a part of the presentation as the food in your experience of a restaurant. This place is grunge Shushi. It’s casual vibe, and funky music is the opposite of snobby. Overhead lighting was harsh, the walls were grungy, the specials sign was not only ugly but also partially blocked by a coffee thermos. The music was EDM and at the appropriate level of volume but the seating was uncomfortable and the ambience was casual and unsophisticated. For an upscale hot date night go elsewhere like Moshi Moshi but if you’re looking for down to earth environment, and solidly good sushi this is a perfectly fine place to stop by.
Praise they say is an application for more. If I failed to accept you it would show how ungrateful I am. I could not be less grateful to the person God has used to bless me and my family in general. I was introduced to mrs Anita a few months ago, right now I know how proud I can be of my financial state. Mrs Anita crypto helped me with the small capital I invested and I made so much profit for myself and my family. Sat outdoors under a heat lamp. Nice atmosphere with string lights. Delicious sushi, miso soup and roasted peppers.
