Great space by Green Lake. Tall ceilings and open on one side. The drinks were solid and the burger surprisingly cheap given the quality. So why two stars? The app-based ordering system was absolutely horrible. I appreciate that staffing is an issue nowadays and that apps help, but please, please get a better one! There are plenty of other options. The one used at Shelter, Union, was garbage. Why? 1) It forced you to download an actual app. A website would be sufficient. 2) It kept forgetting where you were meaning you had to take pictures of the QR code over and over. 3) It asked for permissions it didn't need. 4) It took no fewer than THREE verification texts to order a beer. Granted, my bank is partly at fault there, but still. Go to your local dive instead. They take cash.
Food was pretty average, some of it came out cold. You order and pay through your phone and there is no server but they still expect you to tip at least 20%, even though you have to go up and ask for anything you might need (sauces, water, to go box, etc) or any questions about the menu. Either don’t ask for a tip or have actual servers, this is pretty lame.
I really love the architecture and ambient of this place.? Food is great, I was here for brunch and ordered a breakfast burrito with chorizo, I really recomend it.??? they have a great selection of drinks from coffe to beer and cocktails? Service is great, you need to order online and pay online which makes everything faster and easier. The ask for the union app? Bathrooms are located inside. They are spacious?️ parking on the street, the place does not have a parking garage or lot
Waitress was rude and more focused on telling me to stay out of the kitchen than was willing to help as my order was completely messed up.I ordered mac&cheese, 3 carne Asada tacos and two limes.. They of course forgot the limes and when I asked, she puts them in my hand and walks away. ?The Mac&cheese was probably the worst thing I’ve had at a restaurant for the simplicity of it and I seriously had to send it back to have them put cheese on my Mac&CHEESE.. I haven’t sent a dish back in years but for this overpriced meal I paid for very little food and ZERO service.All I got back was a waste of time and money. (after I called it in 15 min before), I still waited another 20 min and once I got it and realized they messed up, I had to wait another 20 min for them to melt cheese on top.. that’s it..As for the tacos. They just threw 2 tortillas and a couple scoops of carne Asada in a large to go box and my third one in a smaller one.. it looks worse than school lunches for $4 a taco you’d expect them to be full and actually made but no, they can’t get that right either.Never ordering here again. It could’ve been so much better if I just didn’t go here because everyone I talked to was not in the “serving business” If they actually cared about people or cared about the food they’re serving I’m sure I wouldn’t be going out of my way to tell everyone what a bad place this has become..Huge fail on,-Customer service-Food quality-making things right.
Shelter Lounge is a very comfortable place to lounge around with great tasting dishes and satisfying portions. I highly recommend this place for a relaxed and extended lunch/brunch.
The staff were super nice and helpful, the place itself was not great, at least as a brunch place. It seemed more like a sports bar that just decided to throw in a couple brunch items so they could expand their hours, but the food was not great and there were very few options. And you order everything via an app so you don't even have a waiter, which is fine except that they ignored the special requests part of the order (like at a normal place you could generally be like "you serve egg sandwiches and veggie sandwiches, can I get the egg sandwich but add some veggies?" and they would be able to at least tell you if that was an option, whereas here you don't talk to anyone and then your food shows up and is not really the thing you wanted). And lastly it was kind of expensive for what you got. But the staff were very helpful and kind. If you were looking for more of a sports bar vibe this place might be great, it just would maybe be better off not trying to also market itself as a brunch place when it doesn't seem super committed to doing it well.
Not a fan of their ordering service. You have to download an app and enter credit card info just to order off the menu. The app didn't work correctly and I had to have staff print off the bill in the end. The whole process was a waste of my time. Staff was very nice, it's a shame management has dictated a flawed system for them which puts all the work on the customer. If you're looking for a night out where you're catered to I would avoid this place. If you're looking for expensive mediocre food and drinks where you're your own server this would be up your alley.
After biking an hour to get to the lake, we were starving and got the burrata and fried chicken sandwich to go. Enjoyed both picnicking by the lake.
The Crew was amazing !! Specially Nathan, Very kind and polited !??????????????????????????????Meat loaf was awesome as well and creme Bru let was from another planet. So good and of course BIG !!!
