What an excellent dining experience! Came across the restaurant on an Eater list and decided to try it. We had a reservation (which was great, because the place was busy!), and were seated promptly! I especially loved our servers - all of whom were so friendly and had great recommendations. The menu was exciting - we loved the chrysanthemum salad and spicy eggplant (chilled) - amazing flavours and the spice level was just right! The Dan Dan noodles and the mushroom tofu fried rice were great large plates to share. I got a Red Lantern to drink, and the flavour of hibiscus was superb. Overall, a 5 star dining experience, would highly recommend and would 100% visit again!
A lovely restaurant with great food. Don't miss the fried chicken, the dumplings (amazing depth of flavour) and the chickpea curd (a revelation!)
The food and drinks were absolutely delicious ✨ ? We met up with some out-of-town friends here and they loved the experience! The Dan Dan noodles, lamb, pork belly, and pork dumplings are a must! Some of the best food I've had in Seattle ?
I really wanted to like this place. It seemed cute and I appreciated our server explaining the whole mouth numbing peppercorn deal. However the food was disgustingly salty, I've been all over the world and eaten all kinds of food and this was the saltiest food I've ever had.We got the Mapo tofu and dry fried chicken and some sides. The Chinese greens and cucumber salad were delicious and I was looking forward to a delicious meal.Unfortunately the tofu and chicken dish were so salty they were completely inedible. Literally the saltiest food I've ever eaten in my entire life. After a few bites I couldn't stomach any more and got a huge headache from all the sodium.Profoundly disappointed in this place. I really wanted to like this but I just couldn't get more than a few bites down ???
So amazingly accommodating and delicious. Brought a group of 6 in, last minute on a Saturday night. Set up a table for us and helped us with dinner selections for our not spicy food eating children and mostly vegetarian everyone else. The short rib dish (with short rib or tofu) were big hits.
One of the best meals I have ever had!
Beautiful space with lovely servers. The food all sounds yummy on the menu, it looks gorgeous on the table and the first bites are heaven! Then your teeth get hold of a szechuan peppercorn and the warm and intense (and temporary) numbing quality of this legendary spice takes hold. And the szechuan pepper was not in just one dish, I think it was in every single dish we ordered! We would have gobbled everything up in minutes if we weren't slowed with the necessary recovery of our taste buds. If we ate too much of the peppercorn all of a sudden everything read as wildly salty and we had to pause. The turmeric ginger beverage is the perfect and most delicious way to calm the sensations. The fabulous cucumber dish helped too. We did 4 out of 5 stars for spice level and my thought is that this wasn't a scale for heat but for the intensity of the szechuan. I suggest dialing it down and ordering a few dishes without the pepper and an extra bowl of rice. Don't skip the mapu tofu! I can't wait to come back and try more!
Hands down my favorite restaurant in Seattle! I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve come here, but it’s 10+. Grandma potatoes, spicy eggplant, spicy pork belly are SO good. I wish they would update their menu more often so I would have an excuse to eat here even more.
I had a lovely experience here. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, and the food was divine. I am mostly vegetarian and they were eager to let me know that nearly any menu item could be made to be fully vegetarian except for the dumplings. I had the dan dan noodles (amazing signature Sichuan pepper numbing in this one), spicy eggplant, cucumbers, and the mushroom fried rice and I was super satistifed with each dish. Great selection, friendly and knoweldgable staff, and overall great time. Be sure to check out their baijiu cocktails.
A little bit too salty and the food portion is small but overall good taste!
