Musashi’s is a famous local sushi joint that has been around for a long time. It makes high quality sashimi and sushi affordable to the college town population. The chirashi is my favorite. It has a large number of fresh sashimi slices. You probably have to pay more money if you buy the fish yourself and make this yourself. It really is one of the Best buy for Japanese cuisine. Long wait if you go around the busy hours!
Best sushi I've had outside of Japan. The quality of the fish is perfect, the rice has the right amount of vinegar and warmth, the temperature of the fish is just right, the proportions of the fish to rice is almost perfect (this is for the nigiri and sushi... they should reduce the rice quantity by 15%), the price is amazing.I can't go anywhere else because this place is so delicious.
There are not a lot of seatings. But the food is absolutely amazing and cheap. I guess you can also do takeout and eat at the Gas Works park too
The unagi don portion is so generous, look at all that eel! Really good and comes with complimentary tea and noodle salad.
Musashis is a hidden gem in Wallingford. Their sushi is really well-priced, delicious, and perfect for a quick, easy, and delicious lunch. Their service is fast, it’s really simple to order. It’s got a really good local sushi place vibe. You should definitely check it out!
I’ve been coming here since 1998 and always thought the food was great but the past 16 months the food has been consistently below average and not worth it. The fish tastes old or lower quality. The sushi rice is terrible, the flavor and texture is off. Is the cook even tasting the sushi rice? I’ve had it with semi cooked rice, too wet or dry rice. Frankly everything tastes old. And the way the fish is cut is sloppy. The skin isn’t cut off properly, bones left behind and inedible pieces not cut off.I keep coming back thinking they were having an off day. But after at least ten orders in a row being subpar. I will not be back. I thought it was just this location but the Bellevue location is only little better. I’m not sure what has happened but I’m truly sad that my favorite sushi has gone downhill.
Rude service, bad food (especially the rice).Musashi used to be some of the best sushi in Seattle. I would recommend my friends come here, recommend it to out of towners, etc.Asked for a table, I was told it would be 40 minutes. One group in front of me left and took their name off the list. I go in after 30 minutes and I was told that it would be another hour. I used to work in food service, so I understand that people make mistakes and that it can be hard to estimate. But the guy at the counter was rude and made me feel as if I was inconveniencing him for frequenting Musashi.I had always loved their sushi pre-pandemic, so I decided to order take-out. Unfortunately, my partner and I got home and were disappointed with bland rice with our nigiri. BYORV (bring your own rice vinegar). Not sure what happened to this Seattle classic but in my opinion it has lost its way.
Ordered takeout Nigiri dinner and Chicken Plate. This is one of sushi place I enjoyed and the food is going downhill. Sushi rice was too bland and cold, fish(tuna) was definitely not fresh, slightly smelled going bad.The salad(glass noodles) was stale. I really wanna know what happened to this restaurant. I remember the food used to be good here. Very disappointed, not ordering again. Giving two stars because the chicken skewers were ok.
Ordering was smooth and service was really fast. Best part of the meal was the Miso soup. The veggie roll was also really good. Rice was cooked well. Fish quality in the Chirashi bowl was alright and that was the let down.
Ok, I'll start by saying that the service itself was great, friendly and incredibly fast for it being lunch hour. It's a really tiny place that can only accommodate a few small groups at a time with their bar seating. The prices are really good and the portions are more than generous. I came here at the suggestion of a friend at UW. I love sushi so I'm always looking for new places to try.I got two inari sushi, a Cali roll and the smoked salmon and cream cheese roll. At first I was kind of bummed to see these weren't inside out rolls (just a personal preference, I like my rice on the outside, no big deal though), but the salmon that was supposed to be smoked salmon tasted just like really dry, normal salmon. The crab salad was also pretty dry in the Cali roll as well. The rice used isn't really seasoned either so the flavors felt really bland and smelled noticeably vinegary.I had a bottle of eel sauce and some tobiko at home I tried to use to kind of space it up, but it still fell flat. To me sushi rice is really important in maki sushi and it just isn't present here. The price is great if you want satisfactory sushi in quantity, but what you get in quantity you loose in quality. I wanted to like it and it was really promising, but Seattle has a lot of better sushi options if you're a big fan of flavors.I can't speak for the sashimi or nigiri quality because I didn't try it this time, but the rolls I had just didn't satisfy what I was looking for. The inari was ok, but only because the tofu pouches were seasoned, which offset some of the blandness of the rice.
