foid was neither good, nor bad.. clerk was pleasant
This is one of my favorite places in Seattle. I used to live nearby and would stop by frequently to get anything from a breakfast sandwich to icecream. The owners are hard working and nice and provided to me a good example as to how to run a business operation when I was a new startup founder. They have a nice hot lunch operation as well most week days!!
I've passed this place a few times while running around town, but never cared to stop and check this place out for any reason what so ever. Well today was the day I decided to try their food options. For some reason, I got so excited to finaly try their deli food before entering. I liked their set up and feel when first entering.I ordered a classic breakfast sandwich. It mentions choosing your choice of meat. I chose turkey. They gave me the remaining options for bread and etc. All was well when I first put in my order. Upon paying an elder lady came up to the register area with an angry face waiving her hands and pulled the clerk aside. They came back and she explained I can only get turkey on deli food and breakfast sandwiches are limited to pork bacon, pork ham, or pork sausage. Why only allow pork options for breakfast? Turkey is just as cheap as pork. Pork makes my belly hurt in the morning. Also why does one breakfast option list out the meat options, but the other sandwich option say choice of meat. Welp, I went down the street to another Cafe to get a turkey breakfast sandwich. Maybe I'll try back another day to see how they feel. I've never been turned down to have turkey instead of pork so this was a suprise to find.I'm sure this place has great options, but unfortunately I can only speak on my experience. I wish I was writing about a better one. I probably shouldn't have gotten excited about coming before hand and I wouldn't have been let down so bad ??
Good little Deli right by Climate Pledge Arena
Great place, friendly staff, and tasty sandwiches. Please note updated COVID hours.
This place has some amazing sandwiches. My favorite is the #5, Mercer St. Madness. It's subtly sweet and flavorful, with chicken and bacon goodness. A great quick fix for any hunger craving.I am not sure of exact timings, but they usually make their sandwiches upon order from morning through afternoon. You get them within ~2 min of ordering. As a bonus, the people at the store are super friendly.
Arrived mid-morning and the "hot foods" were limited to a few breakfast options. There was a second steam table that may offer lunch, but not sure if they're doing much at this point (due to Covid). The sandwich counter was being prepped so you could order a sandwich made to order with a pretty good selection of "stuff" to put on them. The wine and beer selection was very limited. The grocery shelves were pretty much empty -- very, very few options for necessities, a bit more for snacks. Not a place I'd come back to because I couldn't be sure they'd have the basic necessities needed. Not sure how they stay in business at this point.
Overpriced and exceptionally rude owners. They try to take your change when you pay with cash. They will charge you an exorbitant transaction fee of you pay with card. If you buy a sandwich be prepared to be served a sliver of meat on dry bread served by rude and inattentive employees. Stay away!!!!
Stay away unless you are ready to pay a mandatory tip. I ordered 2 sandwiches and since we are having it to go, I decided not to tip. The worker running the deli confronted us saying we must tip because it is part of the Seattle culture, even though we are grabbing the sandwich to go! She stated "This isn't a McDonald's." She is also extremely rude assuming I was Chinese and stating that I don't understand the way of life in Seattle. I am sadden by the rude attitude, terrible service, and the demand for tips from customersEDIT: Replying to the owner's comment below, I visited on July 11th around 10:45am.
Overpriced for basic items and unfortunately they don’t treat everyone equally. Hard to understand how an ever so regular patron still doesn’t get a welcoming smile or hello.Treating everyone equally is the American way, especially if they have tipped you!
