Great place to have a few drinks and great Spanish appetizers and dishes. We went for happy hour (note they only have food on happy hour special - drinks are excluded from the happy hour - you'll have to pay full price for the drinks). The nachos were the best size for value. Everything was delicious! Gave 4 stars only because the drinks were not on the happy hour menu.
We went there a few times before they changed new location.Their new location feels little smaller than previous location, maybe? I see some upstairs but not sure that is available for dine in or their office(?)I like new location more. Nicer decor and same friendly service.Lighting is bit dark for reading menu but good atmosphere. We would like to go their new location again.Their bacon wrapped jalapeños are my favorite!
Crazy happy hour. These heaping, loaded to the brim steak nachos with sour cream, guacamole, salsa and absurd amounts of cheese for ~10 bucks? Absolutely absurd. The chorizo quesidillas for 7 bucks were also real mean. ? Enjoyed their cucumber jalapeño margarita which had this addictive chili cumin lime rim salt. Awesome atmosphere, food, staff and drink- basically a perfect spot :)
Matador is one of my fav mexican restaurants in Seattle. The one on Ballard ave almost always has a wait time during weekends but not that bad a wait if you just stick around or enjoy some bars or brewery in the area while you wait for your turn. We stopped by around 10pm on a Friday night and there was a 25min wait but they figured out a table in just 10mins (thank god we dint leave this time). We ordered a bunch of stuff from the happy hour menu (4-6pm and 10pm-close DAILY). Habanero shrimp (delicious shrimp in a spicy flavorful habanero sauce and cornbread soaking up all that sauce), wild mushroom skillet(amazing) chips and dips (love their salsa, queso and bean dip but their guac lacked seasoning). For main course we ordered the street tacos - vegetarian, chorizo, spicy shrimp (yes they do customize street tacos if asked) and chicken. 3 tacos for $5 during happy hour is the cheapest tacos I have ever eaten! Street tacos were delicious. My friends also ordered the chili reno and matador bowl and they devoured their meal. For drinks we went with all kinds of margaritas but i really liked the smokey and mangonada.Love the ambience at Matador and service was great. I would definitely to stop by Matador especially during happy hour!
Matador is beautifully decorated, with dim lighting and a bit of classy -yet- casual vibe, it makes a great date night or hang out spot for happy hour, friends night out, etc. The drinks are always top notch, with lots of variations on classic margaritas. Food is always decent, with a favorite being chorizo nachos! I was disappointed in the service most recently this last evening with an inpatient host, and two male bartenders that wore their masks under their chin for about 80% of the evening. Not a good look for the restaurant in the height of the pandemic ??♀️
The happy hour here is pure value. It tends to get crazy busy, and they do not take reservations like neighboring establishments. You may find yourself cramped in the lobby dodging party-goers and bar-hopping noshers; however, the staff handle said craziness with aplomb.
I came here for lunch and was quite impressed. The service was great and the food was delicious.Though the price looks a little higher than average, you definitely get what you paid for in quality and quantity. Their rice and beans are delicious, you can tell it is not canned beans from the way it tastes. I had the baja fish tacos featured in the photo. We also shared their spicy shrimps plate, and fried beans dip which were both delicious.
Early lunch, wasn't too crowded, got busier by the time I left. Great service. Excellent chips and salsa. I had the Crispy Pork Belly Tacos. Highly recommend. They were fantastic. Sorry I forgot to take a Pict.
Food and service were great! I regret I didn’t take any pictures! I would recommend this place for a casual night out with friends, to chat and enjoy some finger food.Their location changed over the last year, I hadn’t been to this one before, but I was pleasantly surprised! The food was good, nothing out of the extraordinary, but flavorful! This restaurant specializes in tequila, so they have a big selection of drinks, they were all pretty good.
Food and ambience was great. I can't give 5 stars because of the service. Waitress was very impatient, and didn't give us any time to look at the menu properly. Came to the table before we finished food and asked if we wanted check.
