Was served raw chicken. I brought it to the window, they confirmed it was raw, threw it in the garbage, and just walked away. Waste of money, can get you sick, and bad service. I have gotten good chicken here before but this turned me sour.
I'd heard people say ma'ono is the best fried chicken sandwich in Seattle, but this was absolute trash. The chicken was incredibly dry. Batter and seasoning hardly helped. I ordered medium and didn't taste even the faintest bit of spice, and it's extra $ to get it any hotter. The bun and sauce were very standard. I liked the pickle but that's about it. Maybe other locations are better? Love Rachel's ginger beer tho.
Felt pretty average for a chicken sandwich. You only order online here and then pick up your order on the counter. That process is simple enough, but you don't quite get to ask any questions or get an opinion if it's your first time.Chicken sandwich - the buns are softly toasted on the inside but the outside is definitely underwhelming. Can get a bit soggy, especially the bottom layer. The creamy mayo is pleasant, I opted for light mayo and felt like that was a wise choice in order to enjoy the other flavors including the chicken. Don't get the burger cut in half, I thought it'd be nice and sounded fancy but it ends up being more messy and troublesome. Each half of my burger had the chicken cut in half as well, not sure if intended, but I essentially had four quarter circle pieces that made up the burger and they loved to move around.Drumsticks weren't anything special. I enjoyed them but they weren't much different than other fried chicken places. Slightly different seasoning, sure, but the chicken and breading were very typical. Ginger was a nice addition, though.By no means a bad place, potentially an unlucky experience. Average experience with higher expectations. Experience may vary based on beverages--maybe stop by for some ginger beer while you're here anyway? That could've been my mistake, not choosing to merge the two.
Had the spicy chicken sandwich with a macaroni potato salad. Food is fantastic, especially the sauces and pickles for the sandwich really highlight the dish.
Excellent chicken sandwich. Fries were crispy and perfectly seasoned. Love having this place right inside Rachel’s Ginger Beer, the Guava drink was great with the Hawaiian style chicken.
This was a great experience. The establishment is based around Rachel's Ginger Beer- which was fantastic, but you order your food in the right corner. As someone who grew up in Nashville and knows all about hot chicken, the hot chicken here was great! Just not really that hot. Served with sweet pickles and Hawaiian roll, it's moist and has a good crunch. Next time I'd order the hottest one for the same level as Nashville Hot.
My husband and I will literally say to each other on a weekend with no plans: want to get fried chicken and ginger beer? If yes, we come here. The chicken is so flavorful. It's almost better after sitting in the fridge for a few hours. Cold and so crispy. We have ordered the chicken sandwich, the strips, fries, and Mac and Kim cheese. Our favorite is the chicken strips.
I ordered 2 chicken sandwiches and fries to go. The fries were under seasoned and the chicken was pretty dry. Looks like they use chicken breast meat. I think it would have tasted better with thigh meat. The kings Hawaiian bun and mayo were delicious though. I would come back, hopefully the dry chicken was an outlier.
I am a big fan of fried chicken and Maono definitely is one of the best fried chicken places Ive ever had, with a very affordable price! They sell it in burgers, drumsticks and tenders. My advice is get the tenders because its the cheapest and the most value (more meat). It also gives you the most of the flavor they use to cook the chicken. I would advise going for Medium spiciness for that extra kick without it being too spicy. Anything above medium is only for the well prepared! - be warned or else you will like it so much so you have no choice but to bear the wrath of the fire dragon to enjoy the chicken!
I’ve been to Ma’ono twice this weekend. They have me worried that I’m addicted to fried chicken. The sandwich is incredible albeit a little pricey. But I seriously think their friend chicken is the best in Seattle. It’s also great that there’s lots of ginger beers and cocktails to choose from should your sandwich be a little on the spicy side (I got the hot one the second time).
