I have not yet been to other locations, but I still can rank this location as my top 5 coffee/bakery shop in Seattle, just because they offer free sparkling water.
The employees at Macrina were extremely kind, but I was a little sad that there was no “dine in” option - my bagel was given to me in a to go bag, with cream cheese on the side, and I had to find a way to spread it on there without making a huge mess. The bagel was also not my favorite, I didn’t find it fluffy enough. I would definitely return to try something else though, there were lots of amazing looking pastries and breads, and I have loved Macrina breads in the past.
As busy as it gets. Waited in line but moved pretty fast. Delicious pastries, the almond croissant is my delirium.Coffee is good, but not amazing.
Had a mini berry pie and a croissant (although it’s not called a croissant here) both absolutely delicious. Previously have gotten other pastries here and enjoyed it. Did get a grilled cheese here and I forgot what the cheese was but it was too sour for my taste. I could see why it would be liked but again not my taste. Probably wouldn’t recommend getting your kid or younger aged child the grilled cheese but lots of delicious things to try on their menu! The staff are all super friendly here too! They also have relatively clean bathrooms and they offer self serve cold still or sparkling water.
Always busy but service is always pretty good. Tons of great pastries and snacks always on offer. Wish there were more small tables inside rather than long benchs, but I like that there's plenty of outdoor tables and they're also very close to Volunteer Park. Wish they had a more extensive coffee menu as well, but definitely one of my favorite spots in my neighborhood.
Location is great. Although there isn’t much by way of outdoor seating, grab a coffee, one of their pastries and enjoy a walk around the gorgeous surroundings. This is my first visit to any of the Macrina Bakeries and I found the flow of the ordering process to be a little confusing. Staff was friendly enough but not super clear on where pick up was for hot food verses coffee and pastries. My chocolate croissant had a solid lump of chocolate in the middle of it which made the chocolate part of it hard to enjoy. The pastry itself was flaky, light, though not buttery. The sausage breakfast sandwich enjoyed by another member of my party was sweet and savory; not to their liking or mine but that’s just opinion. The quiche I ordered had an AMAZING crust but I wasn’t sure if the egg wasn’t quite set in the quiche or if it was just loaded with so much cheese it was extra creamy. It tasted more like a pizza than a quiche but, I say again, the crust was amazing. The coffee I ordered was DELICIOUS. I had it black and enjoyed it immensely. This being my first visit I wonder if I should order different things next time. To a first timer I would suggest a coffee and pastry as they seem to do both very well.
Stop over from Ace hotel. Perfect place for the Best Pastry & Coffee to jump start my day.
The service and food are always good. I usually get the sausage breakfast biscuit, but there's lots of great baked goods. The biscuit on the sausage breakfast biscuit is really good! It crumbles. And, the biscuit has an excellent sauce!
I dropped in on a whim this morning and am so glad I did! Every item in the case looked delicious, but I kept it basic with a Morning Roll - pastry dough twisted with a sweet glaze I think? It's probably my new favorite thing. The other treats I grabbed were for family and they seemed to really enjoy them. I'll definitely be coming back.
Delicious! Best cake ever. Ordering was a bit confusing (we were asked for our order before we’d seen all the food and menus — not sure if this was just because they were busy), but the food was so worth it. Highly recommend the chocolate rose gianduja!
