First the Good: the burata appetizer and the spinach salad with gorgonzola were very good thanks to the excellent quality of the cheeses. Next the Bad: where do I start....spotty service, understaffed, nice people but inexperienced and awkward...pesto pasta was under seasoned...ravioli w/squash and ricotta order was not put in or forgotten and after waiting while the rest of the party were eating, the pasta finally arrived but was under cooked and the ravioli was drowning in the sauce, was unbalanced and over spiced (all of which are unforgivable for an Italian restaurant)...the halibut in tomato sauce was tasty but nothing special and at $49 was outrageously priced....the bread served il forno style was ok while the olive oil and balsamic was outstanding, however at $6.50 a pop (no bread included with the dishes) and given that the second order didn't make it to the table until we were done eating and was trending toward burnt, the bread also qualifies under the bad....when requests were made for some variations to the dishes due to dietary restrictions, the response was that the chef/owner was in and he does not tolerate any changes to the menu items. Next the Ugly: poor and unbalanced lighting...bathroom unclean, industrial feeling, restaurant atmosphere was dark, dingy inside and the patio was reminiscent of a makeshift construction site and both inside and outside did not engender a feeling of cleanliness. And finally, to add insult to injury, there is a mandatory 20% gratuity (a bit too woke for my liking given the overall experience). I could go on, but I think you get the picture. As a first generation Italian and home cook, I do expect an Italian restaurant to meet certain minimum food and service standards. Unfortunately Limoncello fails the test on all counts as it is most memorable, but for all the wrong reasons.
Great food. Beat Italian in the city
Unshelled shrimp, unpeeled eggplant (we prefer food that was prepared in the kitchen, rather than to prepare ourselves at the table), crunchy cantaloupe salad was awful (if the appropriate ingredients are not available, donât make the dish), no follow up service, weird greeting, and flavorless food unlike anything Iâve ever seen in my four trips to Italy. We will not be back.
I was looking for a table for 5 and was having trouble getting a reservation til o stumbled on Limoncello. Not knowing if availability was a good or bad thing I just grabbed it. We were all pleased with our meals tho 4 of us couldnât finish so no room to try dessert.
Very quaint, great service
Great gluten free menu! Definitely a wonderful Italian comfort food location, with friendly staff and drinks, food that came out quickly. We will be back!
Fresh home-made pasta / ravioli with a wonderful marina sauce. Definitely try the bruschetta.
They were out of Polenta and risotto which is exactly why we came. I wanted polenta and she wanted risotto. The meals we got in place were just ok
Fresh and delicious pasta! Excellent specials. Great service with a tiny staff.
Exceptional meal. The service was superb. Highly recommend it for fresh, authentic Italian food. Thank you for your hospitality.
