This was a fun and delicious night out in down to earth Fremont. Kamonegi is a tiny, but not intimate, Japanese restaurant serving interesting and tasty dishes. The "oh so casual cool" diners represented the most prevalent Seattle demographic: young, financially motivated, and sure of their knowledge in everything and anything. We did not: old, socially motivated, and unsure of our knowledge in everything and anything, except what was important thirty years ago. We laughed out loud. They did not, but conversation about all their accomplishments reverberated throughout the tiny space. Thankfully, the staff was warm, friendly, and knew how to laugh. Steven was our primary server, and he was very patient with our ignorance. The menu is extensive, but we knew about nothing listed and went along with what Steven suggested. Everything was delicious, with fantastic taste sensations. Sadly, both my inexperience and carpal tunnel pain made the use of chopsticks very difficult with the fantastic Soba noodles, and my favorite, the coffee salmon tartare. That dish was orgasmic! I was frustrated all with the chopsticks all night, but towards the end of our meal, I stared at the all knowing diners around me and realized they were using the chopsticks like a bulldozer, just shoving the noodles into their mouths, but looking cool while they shoved. I can do that! (except maybe for the cool part). The sake was great too, especially the one called "Olive." Kamonegi is a great Seattle restaurant.

I've had dinner at Kamonegi before but this time I am by myself. So, I got to savor the food with 100% of my attention. And they are so good. I got the ume shirley temple, duck wing, spicy tomato curry seiro and hojicha panna cotta. The duck wing was really delicious. Well, it is not as meaty as chicken wing but the sauce is so so good! It was literally finger licking good! :) The tomato curry seiro is really good too. Needless to say, the soba was excellent. No store bought can compare. The soup was rich and full of umami. But, I have to say, to my surprise, the duck wing steal the show!!!One note to make here, I wasn't allow to order a second bowl of noodle because they had only make so much soba a day. I am totally okay about it. I just thought I will put it here so that people are aware of it.

Amazing local restaurant with great service and delicious food. The quality of the food is amazing and everyone was hospitable. Small shop, but we got some chef counter seats by arriving 10 minutes before they opened and the view into the kitchen was fun. They have a second restaurant/bar two doors over that serves some great sake and has a cute patio.

Very small cramped restaurant but their food and service makes up for it.We ordered many different foods from the menu and every single one of them were flat out amazing. Especially all of their soba noodles, tempura and ducks were exceptionally good. All the employees were very attentive, polite and helpful.Highly recommend. I would definitely go back

Yes it really is as good as they say. Food is amazing, service is fine (even though they forgot to put an item in which turned out ok in then end.). Soba noodles have just the right amount of tooth. Tasty homemade pickles too. Sat at counter and Chef Soma was front and center hard at work.Went again tonight and the duck meatballs were the shining star. The kubocha squash tempura with duck Demi was incredible! Finished off with area tempura - amazing!

Everything was light and tasty and nuanced. Flavor profiles were on point IMO. ?Though I will say it’s a bit pricey for the amount of food my party got — I guess the service and the quality of the food make up the price though. the service was great and they were very accommodating (I was about an hour late to my res)! Thank you again! ?

When we first got there we were seated in a small table that felt very squished (the waiter was using the window ledge to put items, lots of waiters passing pretty close to us) which was not ideal. The food was tasty though. I agree with some other reviewers that the price is quite high for the amount that you get, but the quality of food is amazing. The one thing I was not overly impressed by was the bacon potato mochi starter. I really enjoyed the ankimo, soba, and duck. Also the dessert was disappointing- we thought we were getting a soufflé cheesecake as described on the menu but what came out was a small cup dessert that had a thick consistency and nothing like a typical soufflé cheesecake. Overall it’s a very cozy atmosphere with some great dishes but some disappointing moments.

My wife and I were lucky enough to snag a table and enjoy a variety of the food from their menu. The presentation and arrangement of each bite was carefully thought out and purposeful. Each item we tried was unique and delicious.Definitely wanting to stop back in again soon!

Awesome restaurant centered around their specialty: Soba. The unique starters and tempura dishes pair perfectly with the variety of different hot or cold soba preparations. Definitely a must try if you want to venture out from your typical Japanese spot.

Super cute spot for soba noodles and Izakaya dishes! A reservation is a good idea here. The staff is very friendly and made some great recommendations! Next time I’ll definitely try the sake too.
