Had a private dinner for a birthday and the food was absolutely fantastic! Beautifully constructed menu, great ambiance, a wonderful experience that I cannot recommend highly enough!
One of the best meals I've had in Seattle in a long time. Our food was delicious and well crafted, you could tell a lot of care and expertise went into the development and execution of each dish. This combined with the great view and hospitality make it a definite repeat for us.
We’ve eaten at Iconiq numerous times as it’s become one of our top five restaurants in Seattle. My takeaways: best creative cooking; intimate with a view of downtown; Friendly attentive staff; well curated if expensive wine list. Favorite dishes of late: Octopus, truffle risotto, iberico pluma, and filet mignon. Perfect place for a special occasion.
Amazing experience. We got to chat with the chef himself while dining, which was a really enjoyable experience. The food was incredible and creative.
Ordered 3 out of the five main courses available that day, and none of them made me want to come back again. We ordered the fillet mignon, iberico pluma, and foie gras risotto along with the lavender ice cream dessert.I would say the dessert tasted the best out of all of them, the yogurt under the ice-cream is pretty tasty, but the ice-cream as a whole didn’t amaze me.The iberico pluma had good texture, but the sauce and the veggie on the side did not complement it.The prime beef fillet mignon was cooked well, but the beef itself has an unusual initial taste. The tastsuta-age sweetbread actually tastes better than the prime beef in my opinion. Had one bite of the shepherd’s pie and did not like it at all.The foie gras risotto tastes okay. The risotto is pretty bland without the foie gras, and a bit heavy with it. I would’ve happily just had the foie gras by itself without the risotto. To be fair we didn’t order any starters/appetizers, so maybe the starters actually do the rating justice. I’m just a little disappointed considering the price isn’t cheap.
Foie gras risotto is beyond amazing, as in I don't have the right words to describe my experience. The Filet Mignon was one of the best steak I've tried this year, and the fried Sweetbread was an interesting combo. Last but not least, the Burgundy Truffle Ice Cream was the perfect way to wrap up the meal.Skip the appetizers and order 3 entrees to share!I can't wait to come back for the foie gras risotto again...soon!!
The restaurant is cozy and small, which actually surprised me. There's only one server/busser in the dining area; the bar was empty. I assume that in an ideal world there would be two people serving the diners.SERVICEThat turned out to be negatively impacting our dining experience. Because it's short-staffed, it took us long enough to get our food ordered. The server was courteous, but a few things I'd like to point out:1) When presenting the menu, tell us what's sold out already. It's a waste of time and annoying to be told that they ran of truffle, after waiting for 5 minutes to get the server's attention, only to be having to make another decision about what to eat when the server is standing next to us. The server could've saved the time and told us beforehand2) The dining area was apparently short-staffed, as another chef ended up helping the diners when we were done eating. If that's the case, just stop asking if there's anything you could do for us every time after passing the dishes to usFOODFood is okay, and as I mentioned in my other reviews, I'm losing hope in Seattle's restaurants. The fried squid was on point. The texture was great, and the veggies set aside were a good complement. The octopus was a bit heavy, so maybe the veggies should be lighter. The cauliflower trio was not bad either. I wonder if making the boiled floret into biting size (instead of sliced) would make it easier to eat.Foie gras risotto - it's fatty, yes, as expected. Maybe the risotto, as a result, should be lighter with less butter? I'm not an expert on risotto, so this could be my personal preference.Filet mignon had a lovely plating. I love it. The fried sweetbread was very innovative. The steak itself was not as tender as I would expect unfortunately. Maybe the temperature of the grill was not high enough to sear the surface? The other stuffs in the plate overshadowed the steak, and overall it was still a stunning dish.BOTTOM LINEIt made me wonder the target customers of this restaurant. It has the potential to be a upscale restaurant that serves great experience and delicate food with high profit margin, or just attempt to cater to more people by making everything more average. It's a struggle for sure to serve Seattle. Or maybe I'm just being too picky.
The food is always awesome and the staff are so nice. Would definitely recommend
Iconiq is such a hidden gem.We made the best decision ever to dine at Iconiq to celebrate our engagement back in August. Thank you, Chef Kawai, for sharing with us your beautiful creation of the sweet tomato and cantaloupe dessert. After all these months I am still savoring. It was the most amazing dessert ever. You are incredible. We are lucky to have you in this neighborhood and we are absolutely amazed by your journey all the way from Osaka to the Pacific Northwest. We are really thankful for your love of food and dedication to creating memorable experiences for the community. Aside from how amazing your food is, we are so impressed by how well and seamlessly the kitchen operates, and how you keep everything so beautifully organized. You clearly take great care of your staff members and deeply care about them.We will visit you often and are super excited to see your business grow and prosper!
The food was really good but service was slow and a little sloppy and feel like they forgot about us at one point, which is surprising for an upscale place like this. Get a table in the back it you can, I heard the view is nice, but the front was just cold gusts and tight spaces.
