Haymaker is a hidden gem in West Seattle. The chefs are amazing, the service personable and gracious and the Wedge Salad like none I've had before...sublime!
Unfortunately, my wife and I had a very disappointing experience at Haymaker. My wife and I were excited to celebrate our anniversary with a special night out, but we were made to feel anything but special. We largely felt ignored by staff. The server/host that sat us forgot to bring us menus and we waited patiently while several staff ran around us, but never stopped by (even when trying to get their attention). When we finally received our drink menus and were able to place an order, it was nearly 45 minutes since sitting down. All three servers that stopped by our table to check on us during our visit constantly failed to bring us menus, seasoning, and basically anything else we asked for. The salmon and wedge salad were good, but the Gemelli was very underwhelming and definitely need salt for flavor (I rarely add salt to anything). We had to place an order for a glass of wine with our meal three times before they arrived and at that point, we were basically done eating. I don't know if this was an off night or what based on the positive reviews, but this was at best a mediocre experience and certainly not in line with a $200 bill for two people. We were never offered a dessert menu, so I can't comment on anything there, but I doubt we'll be returning. It's too bad... we had been looking forward to visiting this restaurant in our neighborhood. As an alternative, I recommend Raccolto up the street for a nice evening out... and basically any other restaurant in Alaska Junction for better service.
Quality contemporary restaurant and bar in West Seattle. Creative menu featuring excellent menu options with locally sourced ingredients.
Wonderful food and service. Visited on my birthday and Chef Jordan came out with a glass of champagne to toast. Very welcoming environment.
Brocolini was outstanding. Could have used more peas in the rigatoni and less oil in the cod. One of the better choices in the Junction. Good cocktails.
Some of the best food and service around.
Pastas were great. Appetizers were tasty but lacked on presentation for the price. Service was poor, server got an order wrong, seemed unfriendly, and made any request seem like it was quite a hassle and like he didn’t have enough time to properly serve us. Mind you, the restaurant wasn’t even half full for 85% of our time there so staffing was not an issue.
The staff was very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend the homemade pasta.
Glad we went. Food was excellent. Server was attentive, seemed to be working hard but service was a little slow. Recommend for any dining in West Seattle.
Another fabulous celebration. Thank you for helping celebrate a big day(65).It was a wonderful meal that yo made especially for us. The chef's meal and meeting your wonderful chef added to the evening. The pasta was so flavorful and the prepared to perfection. Thank you!
