Wonderful and comfortable experience. First level is the coffee. 2nd is the records. 3rd is comfy sitting and at the top is a great balcony. Good coffee and waffles if the mood fits

Very well-curated record store/coffee shop in Columbia City for those with indie tastes. Lots of modern rock with some jazz, hip hop, soul and electro thrown in. Mostly new releases.The owner and staff are very friendly and there is a lounge on the third floor. Oh, and waffles!I go here all the time and spend too much money. There is a customer loyalty punch card for record purchases that reminds me of what I've done.
Pleasant staff. Good tea. Pretty good music selection. Would Like to have stayed longer, but duty called.
Great oat cappuccino! They're remarkably efficient, but very kind. Top notch equipment. This shop is a real hidden gem. I've been going for years and can't wait for the next visit to Columbia city.
There are no second chances when I am paying $5.50 + adding a tip for a 12 oz latte. They forgot to add the syrup and also made it boiling hot. Not my style. Will not be going back.
I came in a few weeks ago while my car was in the shop. It was raining all day & I had a few hours to kill - every place I walked into didn't have indoor seating open at the time due to Covid, including here.The folks working were cool & friendly right off the bat. I then asked if they knew a spot I could sit down at - they went & dried off one of their outside tables & set it up with a big umbrella. I was able to kick it there for a few hours & get some work done amidst the rain. It was bliss.From the great food/coffee, to the friendly staff, to the lava lamp in the bathroom, it was a memorable experience. A great vibe all around & I'll be back there when I'm in the area. 7/5 stars
Nice, locally owned spot with really good coffee and well trained baristas. Features house made cashew nut milk. Currently (Nov 2021) no inside seating but tables with umbrellas outside and Columbia City outdoor eating area not far away. Has a vinyl record store upstairs.
The coffee was pretty amazing. Will definitely go back for a cup or a bag.. :-)
I love Empire. It is my favorite coffee shop. They have a delicious lavender latte and a ginger snap latte that I could drink every single day. I love the vibe and really enjoy the outdoor seating area. All the people who work there are so pleasant and polite. I live in the neighborhood and walk there several days a week. Go to this coffee shop. You will love it!
