I have been a big fan of Deep Sea since their pop up days years ago. As they grow they get even better and better! You can’t go wrong with any of the chocolate options and I love exploring their seasonal flavors. We were fortunate to have them make the cakes for our wedding this year (see photos). Ordering cakes is not your typical bakery experience. Everyone has to stand in line to get cake. It’s worth the wait. Bring a cup of coffee and catch up with your line mates. You might end up with cake and a new friend!
I have been obsessed with Deep Sea Sugar and Salt for many years now, so much so that my partner and I felt like it was a no brainer to pre-order their full cakes for our wedding last month. Our favorite is the London Fog, so we ordered five of the 9 inch round cakes and they were seriously one of the hits of our wedding. People couldn’t stop RAVING about how amazing the cake was, even days and weeks later! A deep heartfelt thank you and appreciation to the whole Deep Sea Sugar and Salt crew for all your hard work and making the most perfect, delicious and unique cakes we’ve ever had—hands down!
I live an hour away from this place and it is more than worth the drive. Definitely go early if you want a specific flavor, and check their Instagram page for real time updates. Everyone is so nice and helpful. And the cake is absolutely divine. The frosting, the filling, the cake itself. It's the best spot for cake in Seattle. I love the rotating flavors and cupcakes boxes too!
Truly the best place in Seattle. Pre-order online the morning of and pick up or watch their insta stories for times when there’s no lines. The workers are always so lovely to interact with. Funfetti and the vanilla are THE best. Support your local cake shop ?
The cake is delicious and the staff is nice. But I waited an hour in line for a $10 piece of cake only to get the completely wrong slice. My friend also got a "chocolate strawberry cupcake" with zero strawberry and just filled with more chocolate frosting instead of jam, which has happened before when she's gotten cupcakes from here. I work in a restaurant and I understand that things can get messed up or busy, but this business model is absolutely ridiculous. It cannot be that hard to fill a cupcake and keep track of where it is. It is not difficult to give somebody the correct order. And if you claim a cake is fruit flavored, it needs to have actual fruit in it. The brown sugar peach cake last year had great peach filling, but this year it's just peach "flavored" with nothing but frosting.
I mean c’mon, it’s one of the greatest cake places around. I found myself a couple blocks away at the Connections Museum (go check it out)when I realized that a slice of cake heaven was just around the corner. While waiting in line, I was convinced I wanted the Chocolate Blackout, but as I ordered, we discussed the merits of the Blackberry Cream, since it’s summer only, I knew that was the one for me. Did not disappoint.
London fog tasted like earl grey and the cream cheese icing was complimentary and not too sweet. The cake was moist and had great flavor as did the cookies and cream slice. Loved each bite
Chocolate porter cake was pretty good, definitely dense and big and it stayed moist for several days which was great! I did not like the apricot cupcake though and ended up not finishing it.Staff is very nice and the shop exterior is cute (a colorful house). The desserts didn't blow my socks off but I would still be open to trying different cake flavors next time.
STILL in love with this joint, after all these years. Stopped in to pickup some slices today and was stoked to get the seasonal flavor of Rhubarb Cornmeal...also got the classic London Fog and Lemon slice...Service is always very sweet and gracious, with the line stretching down the street, and I'm never sorry to drive the half hour to indulge. I do miss living a block away from them in Georgetown for sure and I'm so glad they survived the pandemic. ?❤️?
I looked forward to coming to this cake shop for about a month now; the first time I visited I was turned away because it wasn’t 12 o’clock for the walk up window option. I drove all the way from Black Diamond that day. My second attempt at visiting the cake shop was today with an extremely long line and a wait time of at least 30 minutes. A very unfriendly staff member at the walk up window shouted at me , “ I’m going to need you to step back behind the sign!”I ordered a slice of the London Fog cake because it is one of my favorite teas and I was looking forward to having this first time experience after staring at enticing photos on the business Instagram page that showcases thick layers of cake.First impression: loaded with frosting; where’s the cake? A faint taste of bergamot or is this a physiological effect of having the tea and knowing what it should taste like. Again loads of frosting and flat, dry cake. The frosting simply overkills any other flavors of this cake.Yikes, I tried to support another local business but for me it wasn’t worth the gas spent to get here. The rude customer service never adds to the experience.
