I was recommended this restaurant by a friend and it did not disappoint! Right away your eyes go to the chalkboard menu which is equivalent to a “Steak Stock Market” where different cuts of beef are offered until they run out. Such a unique experience and I opted for the NY Strip which did not disappoint. Top that off with an amazing bottle of French wine and you have one of the best wine/steak experiences in Seattle. HIGHLY recommend for an intimate and immersive fine dining experience!

Loved the vibe and helpful service when it came to navigating the extensive steak menu. Nori butter on 182 day dry aged ribeye might be genius.Only criticism is that judging from the lackluster old fashioned, I’d say the cocktails are probably worth skipping here.

I visit Bateau every time I’m in Seattle: it’s that good. I like their unique formula: you pick the cut(s) you like (or you like to try for the first time) from the extensive list on the the chalkboard. Nice cocktails and great desserts. Sides can be a little too rich especially considering that the steaks are served with finishing butter.

Delicious food, friendly staff and great service.Reservation required. They have a wide variety of options for different steak cuts, but with limited servings. I would suggest going for an early dinner, to avoid not getting your favourite beef cut, if that’s important to you. Yes, it is expensive but it’s worth the food you get here.Only street parking available. As for food:We ordered Beef Liver Mousse for appetisers. The bread and the dips was delicious - we even got a second serving of the bread because it was really that good. For main course we had, a 9oz 126 day aged prime tip(with bone marrow butter) and a 6oz 21 day aged tres mers(with lemon and brown butter), with mashed potatoes and nettles. The Tres mers was delicious with mashed potatoes. My friend did not enjoy the prime tip as much, more of a 3.5/5 taste.Their cocktails are good and strong. We had an old fashioned and a boulevardier. Both tasted great with the steaks.

Unimpressed with the experience given the cost. Forgotten birthday card, overcooked fries, way overcooked steak, and the portions were very little for price. What I ordered?Ribeye steak medium - expected steak pink throughout with touch of red. The steak came medium well+.Dozen sweet oysters- yummy. :)Bottle of Pinot noir - chef’s kiss. The meal’s saving grace.Frites - a tad too long in the fryer. Most fries tasted like crisps.Bateau salad - too much cabbage.Ribeye with marrow butter - marrow butter delicious, steak not so much. Save your money get something cheaper or request rare temperature. The medium came over cooked. The addition of the board where waiters cross off ordered meats is a nice touch. It feels like a regular French bistro, but with prices of an upscale restaurant. I wish I’d eaten a better meal, I’m just left with aftertaste of regret.

Seattle has a number of great steakhouses - from the Met Grill, Jaks, el gaucho, john howie. But bateau is a unique steak outting where there is not set standard menus of steak cuts but rather the rotating offerings that are listed on the board and when someone orders a particular cut then that item is gone. But whatever your choice, the food is delish and menu offers array of sides and appetizers to complement. We opted for the tasting menu which is a great way to enjoy a restaurant's offerings. Highly recommend.

Had the absolute pleasure of being served by Shelby last night. At first, we were very intimidated by the menu options and although we knew what types of steak we liked, wanted to be a bit more adventurous. Shelby was kind, personable, and made all those worries go away with an incredible explanation and recommendations of what steak we should order: he did not disappoint, and the food was fantastic. On top of being an invaluable resource when navigating the labyrinth of steaks, he was incredibly passionate about the experience that he provided. Thank you for a great meal and great service!

Well, maybe we shouldn't have been so excited to get our beef on. The four of us had high expectations and, quite frankly, were a little let down. First, the plus side: The initial greeting, service, and attention are top-notch. The menu can be a little complicated so having someone walk you through it all, make recommendations, ask good questions, and really listen was refreshing. Unfortunately, once we ordered our table became a bit of a wasteland. Maybe because the staff need to give everyone else that much attention at the start, they don't have time to come back? Maybe? On the plus side regarding food, my steak was delish (definitely get the anchovy butter!), the Bateau salad was tart and tasty. I also enjoyed the bread pudding. My fellow diners were not thrilled with their steaks. I kept asking what they thought and they kept replying, "meh." The mashed potato side is more like a puree dish and the mushroom side was overpowered by the herbs. I liked the frites but everyone else said they were way too salty. Had we had better service we would have ordered more drinks and different food; but we didn't so we didn't.

1) quality of food

Bateau is incredible.Arrived soaking-wet and 20 minutes late for our reservation, but the host graciously sat us and was so kind. Our excellent server recommended certain cuts of steak and a few dishes, and everything was beyond delicious (as were the delicate-yet-strong cocktails)!I'd walked by Bateau in the daytime and immediately added a star on Google Maps to remind myself to go there. It's an unbelievably beautiful restaurant. Super romantic, lovely decor, and cozy despite the chilly Seattle night! This is definitely where I'm going to bring friends when they visit Seattle!
