I was super hungry and ordered too much food but even as hungry as we were it was such a let down. Just no flavor, the Mongolian beef was bland and nu-nuanced. Seriously, I thought of my childhood and the horrible Chinese meals my mother served! The Cashew chicken was just as disappointing. The pot sticker wrap was so thick you could barely penetrate it to get to the filling. Just say no.

The food is really hit or miss for me: i mostly order general tso chicken and orange chicken. I've had these dishes here 4 times. 2 of the times they were really good! But the other 2 times they were not. 1 time I thought the sauce (or maybe the chicken itself?) used for chicken tasted bad (almost fishy? not sure). Wife agreed and we discarded it. The other bad time, the chicken was way too chewy and honestly inedible, i had to spit out every other piece; because it was impossible to chew down.Hard to place times exactly but the first time we ordered was maybe September 2021 and the last April 2022. I may give it another chance in a few months, and will possibly update review.

weve been coming to Greenwood Mandarin and when it closed to Ballard Mandarin for 25+ years,. Don't know if they have a new chef but our favorite standards are different. Always enjoyed finer cuts of meat with deliciously glazed sauces Consistently great . Last few visits meats are thicker chunks, glazed sauces are dry and dishes overall are lacking flavor

Ballard Mandarin is a Chinese food restaurant on the busy corner off 8th and Market. They have pretty large portions for a very good price, especially their lunch specials which you can't beat. Taste wise they do a good job at as well. Lots to choose from since their menu is quite large. Staff here are friendly and food comes out extremely quick too.

Delicious food, friendly service at this family-owned spot. Fresh hand-prepped veggies, tasty fresh fish and meats, flavorful sauces, fried foods done to perfection. Love the Lotus dinner - broccoli beef or tofu/veggies entree. The Bar ...is my "Cheers" go-to spot. The welcoming, inclusive bartenders serve up generous drinks. Karaoke on Wed and Sat nights, hosted by KJ Eric of Karaokaholics United. Eric makes you feel like family. His mantra: "There's no bad karaoke." Huge, eclectic song selection ...just plain fun and good therapy! This is the place to make new friends and blow off some steam ❤

koaroke is great outlet n great staff meeting friendly people

Forgot my vaccination card so I wasn't able to be served. That's fine, but the server was rude about it and wouldn't let me do take-out either. The place was empty and I got the feeling she didn't want to have to work.

I liked the speedy service, the quality of the ingredients and the wonderful plain rice. What lacked was the amount of prawns and the chef’s disinterest in cutting items uniformly or having any remote sense of presentation of food.

Very disappointed by the food.Ordered two items that should be nearly impossible to get wrong. They got them both wrong.Chow mein has the right flavor, but under seasoned and watery. Did they forget to salt it?Chicken wings fried perfectly, but just as bland and under seasoned. Clear they expect you to dip wings in sauce, but they're so bland by themselves.Saw another review talking about how this food is great because it isn't MSG laden, but I found myself wishing there was some MSG in my food by my second bite. By the way MSG is no worse for you than table salt, and any negative sentiment around it is myth and bias.Portion size was great. From my takeout experience I would not order again or recommend it to anyone else. It also doesn't make me want to visit the restaurant in person.

Honestly,It's Christmas, I'm new here to Washington and my flight to visit my family got cancelled, because the world is upside down.SOOOO, I ended up not making anything or having anything ready for my solo dinner. I decided to get take out and of course, Chinese is the #1 for Christmas.I read a few reviews. It looked like a safe option for something tasty. However, I'm starting to believe people in Washington don't have tastebuds or don't know what quality food tastes like based on how many places I've been to that really is more basic tasting then actually good.I ordered General Tsao & Chowmein Chicken.I opened them up and General Tsao is more like orange flavored, semi sweet, watered down chicken with A LOT of vegetables and the Chowmein, same thing again, I actually believe there are so many vegetables I'm eating a noodle salad then chowmein. It's incredible on the amount of vegetable to noodle ratio that's happening here. The flavor of the Chowmein is overcooked, so they're breaking apart into tiny pieces, watered down so little flavor, and honestly I hate it. I was expecting robust, full flavor, full noodles with delicious chicken to go with both.Instead I have an upset stomach, disappointed taste buds and I am down $35.I won't be eating here again, I doubt they'll read the review, but if you do read mine, take note, it's only ALRIGHT at best. If you want something worth $12-15 per entree, find a different restaurant.I would rate this place at less than $10 per entree and with all of the vegetables... I'd say $7.Sorry Mandarin Chinese Restaurant, you didn't make the cut. Let me know if you get a better chef. And again, I understand it's Christmas, but any chef a restaurant has should be a consistent representation of flavor.
