I've been to Bookwalter many times and it never disappoints! The service is wonderful, the food is outstanding and the readers cabernet is one of my favorite wines on the planet! Great atmosphere and patio seating too. The ONLY reason why Bookwalter didn't earn 5 stars is because of the prices. Everything is quite spendy, we dropped $125 on 2 people which is why we don't visit more often, only special occasions for us now. I will say that the Pizzas are delicious and have a decent price.
We are frequent guests at Bookwalter and I can tell you this is the best food and service in all of TriCities. We have never been disappointed in what we’ve ordered(and it’s been a lot). In addition, the staff is the most incredible staff who definitely know their jobs. Aubrey, Joe, Nate, Fred and more create such a great experience for all guests. They are upbeat, kind and funny. They make you feel like you are the only guests in the place even when they are extremely busy. They always go above and beyond. If you’re on the fence and enjoy amazing food and spectacular service give this place a try. You will not be disappointed.
The service and food overall amazing! The table next to us however was having conversation that was not top notch like this restaurant is and we were celebrating our Anniversary. Unfortunately due to the tables conversation next to us we began to lose our appetite.
Amazing!! We tried the bacon wrapped dates and Avocado fries with a red and white flight, then added wagyu sirloin to the wedge salad and chicken to the house salad (based on our fabulous server Mitch's suggestions). Loved it all and became Book Club Members ... cheers!!
100% honesty. Gave it four stars overall.Saturday afternoon the weather was perfect. We sat inside. Number one. They should tell gentlemen to take their hats off. It’s a fine dining experience not a sports bar.Good attentive service.French baguette was great. We ordered a bunch of food.Start with the good. Avocado fries. Amazing.Pizza of the moment!!!!! With Gorgonzola and bacon and mushrooms. Really wonderful. I would order it again. And the iceberg wedge!!Romaine lettuce lengthwise cut. Nice twist. Really great.I personally ordered the $22.00 burger. Came with fries. That burger was really great. Cooked to order. Bun stayed with it till the end. Which is hard to find. Did not disappoint. Fries were not good. The bad.Your timings off. Way off.A few people at my table told me the food was not to temp.It took so long to get it. We did not want to send it back. The “short rib” had very little meat on it. Very expensive. And it was not a typical short rib. It was a main rib. Left whole. Served ala Flintstone style.Short ribs are cut whole ribs taken directly beneath the back ribs with meat on top. This was obviously from the rear portion of the rack. It had very little meat in top and some on the sides. Direct indication of what part of the animal it came from. That’s why it appeared as if someone had shaved the meat off it because it was mostly bone and fat. What should of been on that plate was two separate thick parts of the rib. Or the actual short rib. Because the whole bone with hardly any meat for a mere asking price of $36.00Steelhead croquettes meal sounded good. looked good. Nothing on that plate was to temp though. $28.00.Fries were not good.Limp. Greasy. Dark brown.Like they dunked them and then pulled them.If they were homemade hand cuts. They should look into another method of preparation..If they were frozen. They needed to be cooked way longer. Someone over there needs to up the fry game to an A+ level. Right now they are getting an F.Again as stated earlier in this review, the fries were not good.I did not say anything or ask for a replacement option. If that’s the best they could initially do then would hate to see what the back up plan was. This was my first time coming here. I know it’s a fantastic place for some but for me it was okay. Who would want to come back after shelling that amount of cash out for just okay food? Was not particularly impressed.Beautiful location. Nice building. Friendly staff. Come here for salad. Bread. Pizza And avocado fries. Maybe split that burger.
I had the chicken sandwich and we also ordered the shrimp to share. Delicious! Can’t wait to go back.
The atmosphere and service were amazing. We enjoyed the bacon wrapped dates, cocktails and entrees. The wines were also top notch but we love J. Bookwalter wines.
The FOOD!!!! Bacon wrapped dates, the Wagyu double cheeseburger, the wedge salad with the Wagyu sirloin (don't worry I shared) ! The DRINKS!!!! Book Walter Sour was delicious, and the Conflict Red were so good! The atmosphere (loved the jazz music selection), and service was fantastic! We will make this a stop every time we come into town!
The ribs were excellent, but a bit spicy for my taste. I asked for a roll to cut the heat and they sent me a side of vanilla ice-cream instead. Their espresso martinis are wonderful.
Nice building. Service was good. Food was unfortunately of low quality and microwave was used too frequently.
