Great, affordable food with an excellent view! It came out quickly and fresh from the fryer. ?I ordered the Seafood Combo and it came with one piece of fish, fried shrimp, fried clams, and fries. Very satisfying. I also loved the condiment bar. Especially the cocktail sauce, tartar, and vinegars.Great place for a simple and quick meal.

I came here on a Saturday afternoon. The location is great but that’s the main positive for this place. The fish and clams were pretty good, but most of the fries were cold! — like almost-frozen type of cold! It was so unappetizing eating anything else after encountering the cold fries. It seems like they had taken them out of the freezer and barely heated them up. Not what I expect for those prices; honestly, I’d be upset even at a cheap fast food restaurant to receive that. The people I was with said it happened to them previously as well, so it was not just a fluke incident. Meanwhile, the place is understaffed; every single table was dirty and we cleaned one ourselves to sit down at it. And the ice machine was only intermittently working.

Ivar’s Seafood Bar a chain of 18 casual eateries found throughout the state of Washington specializing in locally-caught fried seafood and chowders. The Renton unit is located in Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park, and boasts an outstanding view of Lake Washington. I visited here for an early dinner in mid-March 2022. On my visit I ordered the 3-piece Alaskan Cod ‘n Chips, a cup of white clam chowder and a side of cole slaw. I was a little surprised my fish didn’t come with a packet of malt vinegar, but it did come with lemon and a tasty tartar sauce; both the fish and the fries were hot and not at all soggy. The chowder was extremely flavorful, and the crunchiness and freshness of the cole slaw contrasted nicely with the rest of the meal. The dining room was clean, the service was efficient (if not overly friendly), and the prices were about what I expected to pay. Plus, the view from the restaurant was exceptional. Overall, I enjoyed my meal at Ivar’s Seafood Bar and would eat there again should my travels bring me back to Renton.

Came here on Friday afternoon lunch while visiting Renton. It was half full from about the 10 tables outside on the pier and tables on the inside. Walked in and the staff was very welcoming and helpful. Wanted to try the traditional fish and chips, so ordered the Alaska True Cod, but also tried the Wild Alaska Halibut Fish and Chips. For the sides, ordered the Clam Chowder and Cole Slaw.Within 10 minutes, they brought the order to the table. There were nice thick cuts of Cod and Halibut. Asked for some malt vinegar as I don't like for tartar sauce or anything else to take away from the flavor of the fish. The fish was very fresh and flaky on the inside with a nice fried crisp on the outside. The chowder thick, creamy, and also had nice chunks of clam. It was a little too cold to eat outside, but the inside still provide a nice view of the water. After the meal, it was a nice walk around the boardwalk right around the restaurant. I can imagine how nice it is to sit outside and enjoy your meal. This place had good quality seafood without paying the high restaurant prices.

Great food and fast service. Picturesque waterfront during summer.

Great spot for an affordable lakefront lunch- Highly recommend the original fish and chips, jumbo or baby prawns, coleslaw and original clam chowder as a go to for a delicious and cheap meal with family or friends. Halibut and chips are good but a bit pricey, and the salmon and chips are a bit too dry for my liking.Service is pretty prompt and the view is especially amazing- Attached is the photo of our view while me and my family ate. Highly recommend!

Fresh, hot food, delicious! Miss being at this location for many years. Love the view! Very nice server at the register gave some suggestions and good explanations of some new items. Very thankful for some good suggestions. It was delicious ? my daughter's first time here and enjoyed eating with a view.

Typically these types of restaurants I don’t review because the name speaks for its own reputation and quality. No one reads reviews because they know it’s ether good or bad already. But I’m here to speak service. The young black lady cashier up front is literally the best in the house. Puts a smile on, delivers friendly service, and laughs with us when we order and I can sense genuineness. Hard to come by from these fast food/small restaurants. The order was quick and easy but couple minutes of smile from her really did brighten our day up and we passed it on. Life is good! I didn’t get her name but whoever you are, if you’re reading this, keep going. If you’re the manager reading this, don’t let these things go unnoticed. Watch your staff closely, they’re all very nice people and should be lucky they applied.Fish n chip on!!

This location has more outdoor dining options than other locations. Can be really busy at popular times. I think the food is consistently good for fish & chips.

This is your standard Ivar's. The food here is good, but it is straight forward fish & chips, and chowder. Good place to get a snack or meal at the park.
