Great Korean restaurant! My husband and I stopped by last night on our way from from Vancouver. We usually go to Tacoma. I ordered Boodae jjigae(Army soup) and hubby ordered soondae bokum(stir fried soondae). He said the best Korean food he ever tasted. Reminded him of my mom's kimchee. Great side dishes and great service throughout. I highly recommend this place!
Solid Korean restaurant in the Lacey area.
My mom and I were frequent diners at Seoul Restaurant for many many years and were surprised to see it close down suddenly. However, we happened to drive by the other week and saw that the restaurant is now called Seoul Garden and under new management. We were able to try out the new menu and see the renovations the new owners made to the inside of the restaurant (which was in desperate need of a face lift). My mom and I were pleasantly surprised how quickly they were able to redo the inside! The restaurant definitely looks cleaner and a lot nicer. We ordered galbi (beef short ribs) and soybean soup and they did not disappoint! The prices were comparable to the previous menu. My favorite part was the side dishes, which you could tell were made with fresh ingredients. And of course they will give you refills if you want! I was able to talk to the owner’s daughter, who was helping serve, and she said her mom has always dreamed of opening up a restaurant so this was the perfect opportunity for her to take over! I highly suggest you check this place out if you want authentic, home cooked Korean food and friendly service! One thing I hope the new owners will consider making (that the previous owners made often) is cheonsachae (white kelp noodle salad). That just made everything taste even better!2/3/22 Update: They now have cheonsachae!!
Had a wonderful meal! Loved the side dishes and the hot stone bibimbap, this will be my family’s new go to spot for fresh Korean cuisine. Staff was very nice and attentive!
We had the seafood pancake, spicy bulgogi and regular bulgogi. Food was amazing and delicious. Staff is delightful. Highly recommend
Having patronized the restaurant location for decades it was surprising to see the remodel notice on the door. Open for business with a new name and new owner held us curious. My go to dish has always been the grilled mackerel, and my Hubby the short ribs. The new menu has been simplified and streamlined. The fish was no less delicious and short rib and cabbage soup, served in a stone bowl flavorful and boiling. The staff was attentive and welcoming. The updated interior is light and clean. New windows definitely open the space. Will be returning again, soon.
This restaurant is not what it used to be. If you love the old Seoul food, you’ll probably be disappointed with the food here. We used to go there all the time before Covid; dined in as a family and ordered the family meals, spent $200-$300 each visit. We loved it. Even during Covid in the last 2 years, we still ordered takeout, and the food was delicious. After the restaurant was closed for a model, and then re-opened, it was renamed to Seoul Garden. We decided to order takeout to satisfy our Korean cravings since there weren’t very many good Korean restaurants in the South Puget Sound. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the food we got this time. We ordered Japchae, Galbi-beef short ribs, and spicy pork. We noticed something different immediately with the food. The main entrees were bland to say the least. The rice was very soft and wet; it felt almost congee-ish. The Japchae no longer had the hint of sesame oil; all we could taste was the sugar and vegetable/canola oil. Instead of shitake mushrooms, it now has some wood ear fungus mushroom, and no longer has the umami flavor shitake mushrooms used to give it. The Galbi tasted like it had only been marinated for a couple hours versus overnight. Again, all we could taste from the Galbi was sugar. The spicy pork was no different. It was not spicy at all, despite the name. Sweet pork is more of a befitting name. The theme seems to be that the entrees didn’t have much salt at all.We wondered why the food tasted so different prior to the remodel, and found out the obvious; of course new name, new management, so probably new cooks and new recipes. Seoul Garden is not the old Seoul we used to love. We understand some people have to retire and businesses get sold and rebranded. We are just disappointed that the food isn’t up to par with the old gem we used to frequent. On the positive note, the sides were good, especially the kimchi, which was rightfully spicy. For how much it cost just for 3 entrees, I don’t think we will be coming back here again, especially if the food taste isn’t worth the price we’re paying for.
The food was so bad that i couldn't finish eating it. I asked for hot bimbibap they got me the cold one. Side dishes smelled like they had gone bad. The guy at the counter has a terrible customer service he walks like a zombie like he's being forced to be there. Just go to Korean Bbq across the street they have better food.
It was my first time visiting this restaurant. Unfortunately, they ran out of noodles for the day but was able to get another tasty meal (#4 chicken). Very pleased with the amount of food and the flavors are excellent. Don’t judge a book by its cover!
OWNERS: Please update your hours of operation online.Went to resturant at 1750 today 9/12/21. After waiting a few minutes for assistance at counter, a male stated they are taking no more orders and they close at 1800.Very disappointing. Haven't visited this place in years due to bad customer service. Thought I'd give it another go. Even with new owners, still bad service.Went to Gangnam instead. Never disappoints.
