Amazing spot we stopped at in Olympia for lunch yesterday. The web was right, it is worth the detour of Hwy 5. They grow their own shellfish and YES, the clam chowder is a must. Made to order and the clam bodies were larger than their shells. Lots of easy parking and the restaurant is in a market with a bakery, ice cream and other spots too.
At $40+ bucks a head, without alcohol, this is a truly over priced place for the quality of food provided.I ended up here as a result of an eater.com recommend but clearly this is a fail on their part, and walking around town after lunch it would seem there may have been easily as good or better options elsewhere for Seattle-getaway-dining.Reading some of the other reviews it seems like this place has past its glory years, but when you are essentially a seafood restaurant and can’t even serve that up properly then something is clearly wrong. Moreover, when you charge Seattle or London prices in the “boondocks” you should hit the quality points also.I ordered the cider mussels and they were either frozen, microwaved, over cooked or all three, and were absolutely disgusting in texture and smell. So much so, in fact, that I had to send them back to the kitchen. They were the worst i have ever had, including out of a bag from a supermarket!The crab and asparagus was ok, but greasy and nothing to write home about, while the lobster roll was again just ok, with zero finesse, while at 16 bucks you would expect the mac n cheese to have gold leaf on it.All round a pretty disappointing lunch, and certainly not a restaurant i would recommend, least of all for seafood or price.
Atmosphere is good, but the food is outstanding. Started out with raw oysters, then chowder. The chowder was made differently than anywhere else I've dined at. So flavorful! A meal in itself!
Best PNW seafood restaurant! Everything was amazing and unique. Clams (in the shell) chowder, best Brussel sprouts ever, and of course oysters on the half shell.
I have been 2 Sundays in a row and the Oyster Sampler was great . Then today the smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict were amazing. Go and enjoy the food and service are great !!
My date and I came here for dinner but left disappointed because of the limited menu. Tried a few oysters and drinks and went somewhere else for dinner. May try again if they expand their menu but otherwise wouldn’t come back.
Exceeded expectations. The seafood is fresh and local, and provides notable flavor to the dishes. I had curried mussels and a fantastic curried squash soup, guest had steamed clams and side of fries, all nicely seasoned. Service was attentive. Came for lunch, will definitely consider returning for dinner.
The food was delicious and very fresh. The Oysters tasted of the sea, fried brussel sprouts, smoked trout mousse and steamed clams were all amazing.
We were able to run into one of the owners in this business while having a nice conversation at a local bar. After talking a bit he mentioned that he and his sister are partners in this business.I promised him we would go and visit in the near future to see for ourselves what the dining experience was like. So, we made an appointment, arrived on time and were seated in minutes of our arrival in the lounge area. very nice décor and ambiance. very welcoming feeling. We were greeted by our service in a few minutes after we were seated and were taken care of like an old family friend. The GM also introduced her self to us and wanted to ensure all was going well with our dining experience. This is a great team!!!The meal was wonderful, I recommend the geoduck ceviche, fish and chips were awesome as my son is not an oyster guy, and the flight of oysters. I have never had such fresh, tasty and flavorful oysters since I was a kid.You ow it to yourself and your friends to visit Chelsea Farms Oyster Bar!!
When I come back Olympia, this is my go to for some of the best oysters I have ever had! I haven’t found quality and freshness like this anywhere else in the world! I truly mean that! Come here for some of the best oysters!
