Have been here before and liked it very much. However, this time, we ordered the same thing--chili colorado and it had a slight off flavor and had some fatty pieces. About 9 hours later--extreme vomating- and later diarreha (excuse the spelling)= Still sick--if not better tomorrow--will go to emergency. Tried numerous times to call the restaurant and speak with manager---never called me back. Will notify health department--I'm pissed!

My girlfriend grew up in Mount Vernon, and had been talking this place up for a while. I grew up in Texas and hadn't been able to find good Mexican food, until this restaurant that is. Try the ceviche, it's pretty good.

Went to pick up a happy hour appetizer order the chicken wings and combination appetizer platter. Upon arrival I asked if everything was in the bag, including the guacamole and sour cream. The host (not sure what his name was, young chubby man curly black hair, glasses ? ) assured me it was. This is the same person that messed up my boyfriend's posole order a few months ago (there was no vegetables that are supposed to come on the side) so I proceeded to check this order and there was no guacamole or sour cream so he went to the kitchen to get it. I get home and realize there was none of the pork Verde that's supposed to come with the combination appetizer platter as well! I had forgotten about the pork Verde supposed to be included but my boyfriend was sure to remind me when I came home. So I drive all the way back for an order of the Verde I asked for a compensation for my time they did compensate with a double order and apologized but really?!! And one of the lids on the container wasn't closed all the way was leaking when I realized I needed to close it well alot leaked into the bag, INEPT AF CHECK YOUR TAKE OUT ORDERS FOLKS ? Oh yeah and there were no celery and carrot sticks supposed to come with the chicken wings but yeah ?

We don’t go out much, but when we do we go to the Mexico Cafe. Excellent food with large portions and great flavor. Our server, Kaleb, was courteous and went above and beyond by communicating well and was helpful, friendly and cheerful. Overall excellent experience.

The service was really good! Our waitress came back a few times to checked on us, make sure drinks were good and that we were happy with our food. The food was hot and delicious!

Awesome. Simply awesome. They're a local Skagit owned & operated outfit. The staff is top flight all the way, too. Ruby took great care of us. As usual, we felt like family. It's not "fast food", you'll wait a few minutes for your meal 'cause they cook to order. The chips and salsa are plentiful and delicious. The "spicy" salsa actually is, and the mild one is really good, too. I put some of the spicy salsa on my mole enchiladas.Full marks all around!

Unfortunately, my first ever Google review of a restaurant has been inspired by a dismal experience. What began as a simple hunt for a breakfast burrito turned into being completely ripped off.Firstly, it should be noted that Mexico Cafe doesn't list prices on their online menu. My friend called in the order over the phone for two breakfast burritos that normally come with chorizo, but being we are vegetarians we requested to sub the meat for avocado. The manager on the phone refused to comply with this very simple and reasonable request. One would think that not getting the main ingredient (i.e. meat) would warrant a simple substitution at no charge, but the manager insisted on charging us an additional 4 bucks for avocado slices. Wow what a slap in the face. Especially since Cocina Sabores which is right down the road from Mexico Cafe ALWAYS subs out the meat for avocado with NO additional price. Here's the topper, Cocina Sabores burritos are only $8 (and are MASSIVE), Mexico Cafe's ended being $18 each!! They of course didn't give us that total over the phone and instead laid that horrendous price on us when we picked up our food. Very shady business practices going on at Mexico Cafe.To make matters worse, the burritos were awful! Totally bland flavor, no veggies whatsoever, only eggs, cheese, beans and a side of $4 avocado slices, that considering the high price and lack of everything else should have been a FREE SUBSTITUTION!I would highly suggest skipping over the lack luster food and insane prices at Mexico Cafe. Instead give your business to the humble and awesome mom/pop Cocina Sabores that's just a half mile away down Division St.Trust me, your wallet and stomach will thank you mightily :)Mexico Cafe. DO BETTER.

Great little, local choice for awesome Mexican food. Best Mole sauce north of Fresno, and you don't have to go through (or to) hell in order to get it. However, you will have to wait a few minutes. Not too long, and the chips and salsa are fresh, plentiful and delicious. The "spicy" actually is, so taste lightly if you are sensitive. Not terrible as prices go. It isn't exactly cheap, either though. The thing is however, the quality of ingredients that go into their food is absolutely top flight, and that means they're also more expensive by comparison. But they are more than fair enough in value for the dollar spent.

12 yr old approved! I come here time and time again. Always amazing staff. ALWAYS amazing food!

Server was plating chips for a table. Put her mask down, ate a piece after sticking her fingers in the basket to choose the perfect one then proceeded to take it to the guests. Unsanitary. Two stars because she was nice and food wasn’t terrible.
