To be honest, when Skippers was around it was my favorite place for fish & chips and chowder, my family would go there every friday for dinner. But Skippers is gone and Ivars is now my new favorite, the Alaska cod & chips is a great meal with a bowl of white chowder, but if you love chowder like I do, you'll buy a tanker of chowder to take home with you.
This time I was super disappointed in the meal the clam strips were way overcooked. I told the wait staff that they were overdone. They immediately made me a new order but it came out the same way the second time. I ate some of them but all I could taste was burnt coating. Rather than ask for my money back or anything I will be writing a letter to the corporation.Revised: Ivar's, immediately refunded all my money the next day. Interior is a little beat up. Very nice staff member mentioned getting cocunut shrimp on Monday as I bought a few orders (baby and jumbo). Their menu could use some changes, maybe the days of franchises are over.
Bought two 3 piece fish and chips for take out. Wow vary disappointed with the quality. Got fish before it was great but tonight it wasn't that good. Fries seemed old fish wasn't firm. Don't know what to think about this experience. I'm sure ivar wouldn't be happy
In my 25 years of life, I have never tasted fish and chips this delicious. I had cod and halibut. I drove an hour from my home two nights after my first visit, even after having had dinner that day, because I could not shake this off my mind.So kind and friendly. And so good at making hot crispy fish and chips. I hope the staff here prosper!
The fish & frozen fries were both cooked perfectly. The clam chowder was a disappointment, it's not scratch made.
Great Food! Super Friendly Service! I enjoyed an alacarte order of grilled salmon with an order of coleslaw and a cup of chowder. My partner enjoyed a full bowl of chowder.
EXTREMELY RUDE SERVICE.If you dare to go here, prepare to wear your mask every moment you are not sitting down or the staff will LITERALLY gang up on you and berate you about not wearing your mask and even if you are simply going to the restroom.The food is less than mediocre. Bland at best. And it is clear why their numbers are dwindling.They closed the condiment bar with even the pre packaged sauces put behind the counter while the un-gloved staff put their unsanitary fingers all over the inside and outside of your drinking cups and lids. Then have the audacity to demand that your 5yo child wear a mask unless they are sitting at a table.Summary: Never visiting here ever again!
Went to Ivar's to grab some quick dinner for me and my two children. I ordered the 5 piece spicy Cajun fish and chips, 3 piece fish and chips, the Halibut fish and chips, a large smokey salmon chowder and a large Coke. The bill total was 50 and some change. I absolutely love fish. So when I tell you that the taste of the food consisted of salty fries and the fish was super bland and dry then the chowder tasted like burnt salt. I do not mind telling you that I probably should of stuck with the regular chowder because I thought I was in for a treat when I ordered the smokey salmon chowder. Boy was I wrong. So wrong.When it was all said and done after I ordered and was getting ready to leave they forgot to give me my chowder. I had to ask them to get it for me. One thing I can say is that it was the bottom of the dish cause it was almost closing time when I came in. I do not know how long what they served me was in the hot bar but I am pretty sure it was there all day. It tasted burnt and salty like a salt lick. I could only take like 2 bites of it cause I almost gagged. The spicy Cajun fish was so bland and not spicy, at least to me it was not spicy, an it was so dry it took almost all my Coke to wash it down. The service I got was good and they were friendly and helpful. The store was clean and free of debris from what I seen. Was not really looking too hard at stuff but it seemed clean to me. I wish the food was better and had some more flavor to it other than salt.
Who can argue with deep fried? Everything was hot and well prepared. I was hoping for Oysters but they weren't available. I found there 'mask requirement' sign open to issues since not everyone had to have a mask inside. Concern for employees and all customers should prevail.
