Went at 1pm on a Wednesday for tea with my mom and they only had 1 server working. She told us they were too busy and couldn’t seat us even though there were MANY empty tables. She wasn’t friendly, wasn’t apologetic, honestly she looked like she rolled out of bed and came to work with no make up on and a T-shirt and messy pony tail. She told us she was by herself and couldn’t make us tea or sandwiches for an hour.. not sure how they will stay in business or make any money when they turn people away because the teenager working didn’t want to work “hard”.No work ethic to hustle or be friendly or do her job.. Good luck! We won’t be back
Cherished place from going years ago. However it is awful now. An hour and 15 minutes into our visit they said they were making our sandwiches and they will be right out.... there were only TWO tables seated at this time. Turkey was the worst I ever tasted. Equivalent to bologna. Tea was fine but you can find that anywhere. We will never be back it sucks used to love this place. Every new owner it gets it goes downhill more. I REALLY want to like this place but it's such a let down every visit I've been after COVID.
I had the best time, there are so many choices of flavors for tea, I brought 2 children, they were very accommodating, service was perfectly timed, conversation was plentiful, I love the differently decorated rooms, I love ❤ the cucumber sandwiches the best, salads are delicious, food was very fulfilling, it's finely priced, and all the knick knacks are beautiful.Time flew by since you feel very comfortable and welcomed. Can't wait for teddy bear tea!
I have never been out for high tea before, but as a birthday gift, my best girlfriend brought me out. This experience was absolutely delightful. There was no rush, no harried servers, no need to eat and get out. We sat and chatted and sipped tea at our leisure. The food was wonderful - myriad dainty little sandwiches, small confections, and the most wonderful teas! I suggest the Wild Blueberry - it is delicious!
We had the Grand Lady tea service for 2. We had to ask for an explanation of our options. The "savories" turned out to be bite-sized cheddar biscuits that were hot and rubbery (like they might have been over-microwaved prior to being served.). The sorbet was actually a small scoop of vanilla ice cream that had obviously melted and been refrozen prior to being served. Not the refreshing palate cleanser that I was expecting.I would give medium marks to the sandwich offerings. The chicken salad with pecans needed something to bind it together; we ate it open-faced because it was so dry. I passed on the ham with jalapeño jelly after my sister gave it a thumbs down. The egg salad was better than I anticipated. Best were the apple and cheddar sandwich and the cucumber and tomato sandwich. Everything could have used more salt. The scones were unlike anything I had ever had, especially whencompared to the scones at the state fair. Cake-y and slightly under-cooked. The almond glaze had a marzipan texture. We each got 1 topping per the menu description and ordered Devonshire cream for an additional charge. The caramel bread pudding, on the other hand, was delicious and everything I wanted that flavor to be.Mediocre service. We were ignored when we entered the restaurant. Finally seated in the back room and also ignored after our food was delivered. I had to find a server to ask for take-out boxes for the desserts.Lastly, we were told to pay at the front. The person at the cash register asked us where we were sitting which we described to the best of our ability. She used 2 different terms for the space before finally locating our check. It would have been so much more convenient for our server to have given us a bill or at least a reference number for when we paid at the front.
Myself, my wife, daughter and grandson I had a variety of breakfasts and all were fantastic. We all had our own tea flavors and enjoyed the wonderful scones. Great homestyle service.
The owners do not care about their employees, whenever they did payroll they did it whenever they felt like doing it. Meaning most of the time you won't get paid when you were supposed to. Alot of the time you had to wait extra days past your payday to get paid just because the owners didn't care when you get paid. Most of the time if you were supposed to get paid on the 20th or the 5th you wouldn't get it till 3 days after your scheduled payday because they were lazy and didn't care when their employees got paid just as long as they got paid even if it was 3 days late. They didn't care if you were late on your Bill's they would do payroll whenever they felt like getting up and doing it.
Decided to try this place out today. Sent an order via grub hub for a sandwhich with NO LETTUCE OR ONION, Ceasar Salad with dressing on side and a chili. First there was no chili, they had the nerve to send me a half a bowl of chicken noodle. Then the sandwhich had lettuce and onions and they also didn't put dressing on side so my husbands salad will be soggy and disgusting when he comes home from work. THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME ORDErING FROM HERE and ITS MY LAST TIME
my favorite place to go for my afternoon tea
It was really fun and the food and staff were wonderful.
