TL;DR: Generously phat chashu pork. Get it!Parking: Parking garage or surrounding shared lot in the Totem Lake shopping mall.Atmosphere: Spacious and high ceiling dining area, which also makes noise reverberate easily so it can get quite loud. Sound dampening might be a good future suggestion if they want to improve their acoustics for normal conversation levels.Menu: QR code menu on the table with text and no photos. Photo menu available on their website for the visually inclined like me, I like to eat with my eyes. Fist bump to my fellow hunger-triggered-by-photos peeps!Service: wait to be seated, order at the table, you will be watered and your table will be bused, check brought to table, box your own leftovers upon request. The Classic Ramen: The chashu pork. Oh. My. Word. The generously thick and juicy slice is just what I wish every ramen shop had. None of this thinly sliced, paper thin and stringy chashu pork that most shops have. Real ramen is chunky. Real ramen is PHAT. Real ramen should have this level of chashu. But warning, the tenderness may not be consistent -- another bowl of ramen had a slightly drier hunk of chashu. The broth is a bit on the salty side but is easily counteracted with the fresh beansprouts and spinach. Soft boiled egg is indeed soft and melt-in-your-mouth consistency. The noodles are a bit on the al dente side but added a nice chew.Pork Bowl: Listed as spicy but the only spicy thing is the fried jalapeno, which you can ask them to hold the fire (haha) and not include it in your bowl. The flavor is good but there is a bit too much of it, at least for me. The pork soft but is on the salty side. The rice is coated in the same sauce, so when you look for some neutral relief from dear old ricey friend here, he's barely there -- nothing but his jacket left on the sofa in your apartment. You're going to need your friend water...haha.
1) Staff Professionality - 7.5/10I mean, the ajumas there serving and taking orders are pretty sweet and all but one younger male server was pretty rude.. it wasn’t a busy time and we were still eating and enjoying our bowls.. he dishes up the bill and hovered a bit before coming back to grab the credit card to bring to the machine. I’m all for if it was super busy and people were waiting for seats and such that you do this kind of gesture but when it’s past the lunch rush hour.. you absolutely do not rush people when they’re trying to eat. I eat pretty fast but not as fast when being hustled.2) Interior Atmosphere - 9/10Pretty standard, love the open spaces and high ceiling (decor and lighting are fab too!) very modern yet futurist feeling with some of the lighting choices.3) Menu Choices - 9/10I mean, keeping it simple isn’t a bad thing! Less humming and ha-ing when trying to pick a dish to chow on. Less is better! Simple and to the point :)4) Food Quality vs Pricing - 9.5/10I think for the portion and the intricacy of each of the bowls of ramen, it’s not too bad! We ordered The Blaze (Tonkotsu Spicy), Shoyu on Fire (?) and the Truffle ramen and enjoyed all of it Rich in flavour! However… 0.75 for chili paste? Hmmm slightly buzzkill. I could’ve ordered an extra spicy ramen bowl then split the chili paste with the other two bowl instead of that. Many ramen places I’ve been to have the chili paste on the side for people to add to their pleasure/palate… definitely shocked when this was the case ??♀️ I guess to each their own?Would I come back again? Of course! Maybe just avoid the same male server and not order the chili paste by accident…?
If you are craving for some delicious ramen, this is the place to visit!! This restaurant is very spacious, well lit and feels very welcoming and fun. Love the lights and the decor. Very well done. The food is fabulous here and very tasty! Great place to visit for some nice food and ambience!
Had the Blaze/ Pork. Creamy broth, but lacking a little bit of that umami kick(maybe too low on sodium). The egg was cooked right but was also just a little light on flavor. The noodles wasn't as chewy as I like but not bad. Mom loved it, wife didn't, my daughter didn't complain(good sign) so the opinions were all over the board. Everyone loved the creamy broccolini though. I may or may not go back but it is worth a visit.
Excellent bowl of ramen! Just as good as the original location in LA ?? ?Order the Blaze bowl if you like a bit of spice, and you won't be disappointed⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Not only is the crispy rice and tuna, pork belly bun, and ramen delicious but they are also life savers. My best friend started choking and one of the employees came and gave her the Heimlich maneuver. Thank you for helping her! I tried to tip the employee and he refused. Really thank you. I know everyone’s adrenaline through the roof!
Superb place, nice ambience and centrally located at the Village in Totem lake. Ordered in Crispy Chicken Karaage and The Shoyu on Fire (extra spicy) and absolutely loved both the dishes. Pretty good portion size and super filling. Have always been to Jinya ramen before but this place has my heart and would definitely go again. If had an option of Shoyu on Fire with Chicken Karaage in it, that would have brownie points from me and would be absolutely delicious; considering I’m a big time foodie for fried chicken options.
Pork in the ramen is so yummy! Crispy chicken karaage tastes great as well!
Their service is great! Our waiting time was 35mins on Sunday afternoon for two people. They text you when the table is ready which allowed us to walk around the other stores. As for the food, we had edamame, gyoza and their truffle oil ramen.Edamame is good although they only sprinkle salt on the top edamame and not on the bottom ones.Gyoza are small, better get something else. The truffle ramen is good. I wish the meat was thinner and gave a full egg instead of half. You cannot choose the sodium level like in other places. They also put kale instead of spinach which gives no taste to the dish....Not bad but not the best...
This is fun ramen shop in Totem Lake with excellent service and delicious ramen! We had the Shoyu ramen with tofu and the Chicken Karrage bowl. The staff were very attentive and even offered to move us when they saw the cold breeze enter through the door!
