Oh my, where do I start. I love ramen and I have eaten a lot of it throughout the US. This one so far was the worst. We took shibu amd tonkotsu ramen.Broth - thin and lacking fat, umami and overall flavor. Just some bland and liquid soup.Pork (chashu) - dry, overcooked, tasteless. Too much fat and skin.Egg - basically just a hard-boiled egg, not a properly marinated one with a half-liquid yolk.Noodles - just ok. Not great, but not bad either.I think they need to rethink their recipes from scratch. You would be better off having a cup of instant noodle ramen.
We were visiting Bothell this spring, and it was raining, and we felt like having some ramen. This was our first visit (though we went again the following week) to Shibu and our first ramen restaurant, and it set the bar. We have tried others since, and while they were good they weren’t as good as Shibu. If you go, we recommend the bao as an app, and the Tonkutsu ramen. Fantastic combo!
Absolutely worst ramen and food we may have ever had. Pork was wayyy over cooked and super dry. Egg flavorless. Way too much raw garlic. Undercooked vegetables. Broth lacking flavor and depth. Edamame was under salted and overcooked. Absolutely awful meal. Such a waste of money. Will never return unfortunately.
"The best ramen I have had in the United states as per my wife", while I think that conclusively settles it, Shibu ramen definitely lives up to its 4.3 star rating. The broth was rich and tasty and there was decent spice. We had the Garlic Tonkutsu and the Tonkotsu Shoyu and both were fantastic. The Okonomiyaki was also really tasty though it seemed like they use less Benito flakes than in other places. That said, that did not detract from its taste and I would definitely go again. Parking is a slight challenge though but if you a park a little away and walk a bit, you have better choices.
The flavors are superb! The broth is full of flavor and good portions. Try the hot sake with any meal!
The employee is okay when I came in and the restaurant is clean. I ordered garlic tonkotsu and the broth was good but the noodles and toppings was decent nothing special. The only problem was no foodservice during/after I ate, making sure myself is enjoying or anyone there food. If you want foodservice you had get his attention and he will come if not come to you instead he would be in the corner checking things on Amazon by the register. Bad food hospitality service if this was been good it would been at least 4/5 stars.
Must visit this cafe if you love Ramen!!It’s a quiet lovely place with composed interior and good menu. Clean tables and very attentive staff. We ordered Takoyaki, Veggie, and Garlic Tonkutsu Ramens. All the extras in the menu from $0.5 to $2.5, which is affordable!By the way, Veggie Ramen taste is enough saturated, so they know how to please vegetarians. More over, Shibu provide gluten free options too. Will visit again and again! Definitely!Moderately spicy ramen ?- that’s what we need nowadays in cold weather and Covid time)))
Sadly the ramen is just OK, tasting cheap and rushed. The broth is relatively watery, not thick and savory. The eggs aren’t marinated, with yolk on the overcooked side. Takeout portions are small. Trimmings like green onion and mushroom are meager. On the positive, the price is more affordable than than area shops with consistently great ramen. This could be a great local ramen shop with more generous portions and careful preparation.
Their Garlic Tonkatsu Ramen was loaded with a mound of fresh garlic which made for a very tasty meal on a chilly, dreary, rainy Saturday in Kirkland. #hithespotOur daughter enjoyed their Chicken Katsu ??Visited again today. 11.11.2021. Veterans Day.My Husband truly enjoyed the Shibu Ramen which was the perfect level of spicyness ? for him ?? It’s now his NEW favorite ?I enjoyed the Chicken Ramen, our daughter went with her favorite Chicken Katsu, and our son wasted no time finishing his bowl of Tonkatsu Ramen with extra noodles. The service is excellent, fast, and friendly. Delectable lunch on another cold, wet, cloudy Seattle suburbia (Kirkland) day
Yummy Ramen with generous portions. Kids Ramen available as well. Great customer service!
