This is our first time at Deru. We wanted to try a new breakfast place in Kirkland and came across Deru. We had the lattes, eggs and vegetables, and French toast. The environment is nice and welcoming and the eating experience is self-service where you scan a QR code to look through the menu and then order and pay online (the food is on the pricey side). While the food is okay for us, the coffees were amazing! We did not try the cakes. If you are a health conscious eater with a high preference for organic food and a comforting experience, this is the place for you. If you prefer the traditional diner’s experience, this is not the place for you.
Great experience at DERU thanks to Micaela and her crew going above and beyond! It's so hard to find cute but tasty cafes on the Eastside so I was thrilled to try DERU. I ordered a few things through their online portal and was so pleasantly surprised when I pulled up to pick up the goods. They are not open for indoor dining yet and have an excellent system set up outside. Drive through to place orders and another section to park and wait for your order to be delivered to you.We ordered two pizzas (1. roasted mushroom and 2. chicken pesto) and the fried chicken sandwich. All were completely out of this world delicious, especially the chicken sandwich and the mushroom pizza. Don't sleep on their cinnamon roll either - so so yummy!!I'll be back.
Service bomb. ?People nice, like…Borderline Mormon nice.Sasha and I think her name is Cora are my favorites. Took the time to chat and be real people even though they were super busy. I didn’t feel like a number or process, and they seemed actually happy to be there.Aka, no “customer service voice,” here. These lovely people brought a quality of service that I feel was lost in the divisiveness of the last couple year’s challenging circumstances. The food was quality, and not pretentious, without being hipster, or trying not to be hipster.I know of the owner, and I was like I don’t know, but now I understand his quiet, humble ways are from producing genius approachable food.I love the crab cakes, and iced tea with a sprig of mint and right sized lemon chunk. The pizza with the arugula and apples was absolutely gorgeous. The beet salad looked like art.Word of advice, order in advance; currently they are practicing respectable Covid standards.Think ahead.
I was visiting and this is where we brought in from. THe food was more than generous and quite tasty. I can not say what parking is like or the atmosphere as it was brought to me. However.......My sandwich was more than tasty. The French toast was more than tasty. As I said portions were generous.
Great restaurant altogether! The food was amazing and tasted very fresh. The service was excellent. Very welcoming and friendly. Their cakes were out of this world!! We had the coconut cake which was Devine. The chicken sandwich was yummy and the roasted turkey sandwich made me a fan! Highly recommended!
I will start off this review by giving them an A for optics. The one star reflects the appeal.Carrot cake is my favorite cake. So for my birthday I looked to the internet to find the best carrot cake in the city. I would be happy to at the very least have a great tasting cake. The review’s really let me down on this one!!!!If this is indeed one of the best tasting carrot cakes this city has to offer then I bear a great pity for it…This cake was incredibly bland. To my astonishment it lacked carrot flavor despite the entire concept of this dessert. The cake lacked moisture most likely due to carrot deficiency.I can only hope that this carrot cake that I have received for my birthday was a fluke!I hope that this review finds the respective administration in charge of the regulation of this dessert and call for an immediate review.~Yours truly a disappointed carrot cake connoisseur.
Ever been stopped in a moment from amazing food? How about tears of joy? This place is hands down BETTER THAN CANLIS. Sustainable local fresh homemade flavors are outta this world! Thank God they still are kicking butt in the pandemic.
This place is incredible! Super good set up for takeout during Covid. We ended up getting a sandwich salad and cake. The chocolate cake in the chocolate peanut butter cake were both delicious and wouldn’t be able to choose just one. Similarly the turkey sandwich was full of flavor and leaves you wanting another.
Everything here is delish and fresh. Among all things they have, I love the “Vegetables & Eggs” the most. Very flavorful, fresh, and juicy. I’ve tried their sandwiches and pizzas thru several takeouts too, and I would recommend the “Summer Squash & Egg Pizza”, and the “Pulled Pork Sandwich”. Yum.
When they open for dine in again, definitely use their online waitlist!!!Beyond that, everything we had was delicious & the portion sizes were well worth the price! We had the pizza, French toast, fries & kale salad. (The salad was HUGE and I couldn’t finish it…I don’t say that often.)They were 100% worth it + we grabbed some cookies on the way out!The peanut butter oat is to die for!!! Got two…and they were gone within minutes of bringing them home.(We also got their lattes!)
