This is a great family restaurant with pizza, pasta, grinder sandwiches and more! This place has been owned by various members of the same family since opening. I've been bringing my family here sine 1974. We have celebrated many birthdays, and ball games. The staff and ownership are wonderful and accommodating for larger groups. To top it it off, great flavors!
Kirkland has its own Acropolis? Well, not a copy of the one in Greece, but nearly as old. Just kidding, but it seems that way; it's been here since the 1970s, always family-run. That family is a big reason for the long-term success and customer loyalty. Eating here does feel like you're visiting your family (not like that unmentionable garden place). The service is very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Need a recommendation or have a question? No problem. The food: despite the "Acropolis" name, it's mostly Italian food, with the only Greek items on the menu being an assorted appetizer plate, a Greek salad, gyros and a Greek-style pizza. I wish they served moussaka. That said, while not gourmet Italian regional cuisine, it's delicious, home-style "Italian-American" fare, with cheese, cheese, and more cheese. My partner had a chicken gyro, which was perfectly prepared and tasty. I had the baked cannelloni, which was hot as molten lava and drowned in tomato/cheese sauce. After it cooled down, it was a very generous, tasty dish that I enjoyed to the last bite. This place is famous for their "grinders", or submarine sandwiches. Nearly every other review is about the grinders. Perhaps next time, I'll come for lunch and try one. We will definitely be back.
Grinders. Turkey grinders. I love Acropolis turkey grinders. My coworker told me you gotta try this place order the grinders! She was sooooo spot on. They were so yummy I ordered them for years but last time the meat was grinded to practical invisibility to the point I couldn't taste anything it was practical a good vegan sandwich of tzaziki sauce, lettuce, bread and maybe hint of cheese not the old sandwich knew and loved. Have mercy...Why when things are good people changed them.Tip of the day: Don't break the formula!
Just a little more sugar and the spag will taste pretty close to chef boyardee. The ranch is pretty bad, tastes like food service ranch which has that fake sugar aftertaste.
We had spaghetti and lasagna with a dinner salad /thousand Island dressing, root beer and mud pie for dessert. Quick service great smells nice staff.
It was amazing! Our waitress Lisa was the best ever. We had grinders and they were so good! My husband has been coming here for 45 years!!!
The ranch for my salad was the best part of our meal.....we ordered dinner take out after my husband had a decent lunch at this restaurant. The baked lasagna that we ordered was more of a goulash or lasagna like noodle MASHED together with meat sauce, no layers or decent cheese at all. definitely not enough sauce for the noodles to be fully coated or dip your bread in. I can't speak for anything but their I"Italian dishes" but this is not what we expected...true disappointment.
