Something seemed off in the kitchen, which affected the front of the house. Food was delayed and requests had to be repeated. Food quality itself was good, but not feeling it when it comes to the quality vs value. Staff tried their best, but I'm not sure what could honestly be done to correct this. Probably will not repeat again.
Overall everything was OK. Frustrated with being told we did not have a reservation, even though we made a reservation and had an email conversation that I showed to the host. We were told, "sorry, we often have issues with our reservation system. You can have a seat in our bar though." Not the end of the world, just disappointing. Food is overpriced for what you get. $4.99 for a "dinghy" of clam chowder that came in what looked like a ramekin. A small bowl of chowder is $13.90. Can't inamgine the size of that bad boy. $30 for 2 fish tacos. We won't be back unless we randomly are gifted a gift card.
Great experience as always
Shortcuts have been taken since the pandemic "due to the high price of crab", which also coincides with an almost complete turnover of staff. Dukes was always an expensive restaurant, but you used to feel like you were getting premium food. Instead of whole crab leg meat on the deviled eggs or actual crab legs crossed on top of the cioppino, they use shredded crab instead. Either Dukes opted for cheaper meat or they went with a new supplier whose bid did not specify what sort of crab meat they supplied. I would rather they raise prices of the food (which is already high) and keep the high quality. Somebody in the kitchen told the manager that he has been working there for 6 years and it was never crab legs. That's baloney - we've been visiting that Dukes for 8 years and as recently as 2019 they used full crab meat. The menu still says "fresh Dungeness crab" and the manager tried to explain that they get it fresh every 2 days. I told her that that's not what fresh implies - it implies somebody is steaming whole crab in the kitchen, not opening a bag of shredded crab meat (which probably comes from a less desirable part of the crab). This shredded crab is just not as flavorful. Dukes has been our go-to for 8 years (probably one or twice a month) but with these recent changes there are other fine restaurants we will add to our rotation. On a positive note, their Long Island Ice Tea is still the best recipe out there.
Specifically awesome staff and the foods was delicious !! Five stars
Good place for casual dining. Waiter attentive, food was great. All I expected on a Saturday night.
Delicious food and great customer service! Highly recommended!
Beautiful outdoor dining setting. Excellent service. Always enjoy the meal.
Just disappointed they did not have the dessert we wanted. But food was great.
Food was delicious, server was knowledgeable and attentive, but not overbearing. Enjoyed the location and proximity to our home. Seemed a little pricy, but well worth the money. Good for date night or special occasion
